I have been searching for a shower curtain for awhile and I can't seem to find the "right" one . I can do this . What type of fabric do you suggest?

Hi Serena, my name is Sabine and I live in Toronto, Canada. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was looking for a new shower curtain and it would be out of stock all the time. I was fed up waiting so I googled "How to make a shower curtain" and I found your video. It was perfect for me because I don't have a sewing machine. I just finished it today and I love it so much. I wish I could show you pictures. Thank you again, Sabine. ❤

I've made many shower curtains. If you have to join fabric panels always use a french or felled seam.

Serena, I absolutely love this! I can't tell you how many times I've looked for a shower curtain that I liked but couldn't find one that went with my color scheme or style. Great video!!!

Wow,great idea. I have a problem when I change my shower curtains,because I have windows in my bathroom. I am a little OCD in that I have to have matching curtains too. I always buy 2 shower curtains and use 1 for the curtain and am never happy with the fullness of the curtain. Why didn't I think of your idea before? I really love your idea❣
@ThriftDiving6 жыл бұрын
Hey! Have you ever thought of making a window privacy screen like this for the window? It would be easy to get a good fit and you wouldn't need much fabric from the 2nd shower curtain. Just an idea! kzbin.info/www/bejne/hojblmp6dpdqgaM

That is super cute! But that iron on tape to me seems like so much more work than it would to have just sewn it but I like my sewing machine and don’t even own an iron! Lol. Also shower curtain can be turned into window curtains this way. I did that for my dinning room when I found the perfect ones.
@jrbowdree16 жыл бұрын
Will the steam from the shower affect the iron on tape?
@ThriftDiving6 жыл бұрын
Nope! I've been using the shower curtain for a few months now (I just didn't post this video right away), and the shower curtain has held up nicely! You can even wash materials with iron on tape, from what I understand. :)
@kathrynemmitt86254 жыл бұрын
@@ThriftDiving this was my exact question, I was immediately dubious about the iron-on tape, but I am so happy to hear that it has held up. Thank you so much!

Serena first let me say Merry Christmas to you and your family. Your choice of fabric is phenomenal, love it. I Sew so i would have did the same thing with the sewing machine. I have never used the iron on tape might give it a try. The shower hooks gives it the extra POP. Thxs for sharing. You always have great Tutorials.

Beautiful. Could use a curtain panel?? Also does the iron on tape hold up to the steam. Does it stay together?? This is another good reason to prevent me from leaning how to sew. Lol

Doesn't the iron on tape come apart with the steam of the shower, over time? Great idea for a shower curtain. I would break out the sewing machine, it would last longer.

I make custom shower curtains but make button holes to hold my hooks because I cant find gromet tools where I'm from. Have been doing it for years..
@ThriftDiving6 жыл бұрын
Yes, button holes is another way too. Do you make them with your sewing machine?
@CPfaith6 жыл бұрын
@@ThriftDiving Yes I do, as it is quicker. A sturdy lacy material with holes in one edge can also be used. It can be attached without a machine, in the same way you did, or with fabric glue. This makes a beautiful top border on the shower curtain. Hooks are inserted in the edging holes , at a equal distance apart. ( Hope you can picture what I am trying to explain)

lost me on seam allowances...
@ThriftDiving2 жыл бұрын
Aww, sorry to hear that! Basically you have to build seam allowances into anything fabric when you make something. For example, if you have a shower that's 36" wide, you want your shower curtain to be a little full, so you'd maybe want the finish fabric to be 46", for example. And if each seam on the left and right is 1" wide, you will want to cut your fabric to be 48". Same is true for adding inches for the top seam and bottom seam. Hope that helps!
