Clay was an amazing guy, always looked after his friends even if it meant risking his life or going to jail. He idolised Hannah, he would’ve done anything for her. Hannah, yes she did have a lot of struggles but she blamed everyone else for things that were her own fault, twisted peoples words to make them look like the bad guy. She was way too over dramatic about the smallest things, was manipulative. She couldn’t see that there was an amazing, stand up guy who’d die for her, she constantly teased him and made him feel like crap over the tiniest things. And when she sadly killed herself, Clay went through hell and continued to stick up for her even after she died. *CLAY DESERVED BETTER*

No. Not really. The author had a relative who tried to kill herself/was suicidal and he sat down and spoke to her. He wanted to know what it was that made her wanted to die. When she was telling her story, she would constantly have to be like “wait, ok so before that” and he had a realization: _everything affects everything._ He realized that it wasn’t just one thing. It wasn’t just one thing that made her want to die, but multiple things all piling up. That idea got him extremely inspired to write this story. However, if you read the book, it is nothing like the show. It has almost identical reasons why, but none of the drama. It all takes place in a single day. There is no school guys trying to stop him from listening to the tape. There is no “he knows that I know what he did” type of thing. It just tells Hannah’s story through the tapes and Clay’s reactions to it. No one else’s reactions besides a small scene with Tony and another one of the guy’s on the list where the guy tells Clay to throw a rock through the creep’s window. The book isn’t a love story (with a sad ending) like the show. Clay has feelings for her, but none of the scenes in the show between them happen in the book.

Omkar Gajra 13 reasons why. It’s on Netflix but you could definitely find a pirated version online. It’s _NOT_ a love story like this video shows. The girl, Hannah, killed herself before the plot starts. All these moments you see in the video are flashbacks. The show goes over graphic things like rape as well. I believe they changed the scene on netflix, but on the last episode of the 1st season, they show her suicide scene. AND they show her rape. No nudity but they show it happening. If these sound like stuff you don’t want to watch, then I don’t suggest watching these show. The other seasons also go over graphic ideas as well.

You can't just unlove someone especially when they leave you the way Hannah left Clay. He will move on and maybe settle with another girl but he will always love Hannah. He can't love anyone the way he loved Hannah. His love for Hannah was so pure, he didn't fall in love with her body but her soul. I know they didn't get a happy ending and their love story was a tragic one but still Hannah and Clay's love story is one of the best ones I have ever seen. It proves love doesn't always mean sex sometimes, it's just pure love nothing else.

I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse. Also, you are more likely to be much more closer to someone who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a romantic partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse.

So therefore Hannah should've never died or at least if she had to for the purpose of the show, at least let clay and her have a relationship! 💔

Gosh I totally didn’t ball my eyes out fir 8 minutes straight. This show really showed me I have to keep fighting during the darkness even if its hard, because I never ever want to make what Hannah made her parents and “good” friends like Clay feel the hard feelings they felt. Hannah might just be a character but I want to be what Clay imagined in the future what life would of been with Hannah. I want to finish high school, want to see if my dreams come true and fall in love wether it takes time. This show was hard to watch sometimes but I learned a lot. I want to live and never ever want to make people I love feel that pain.

They really should have stopped after that first season. I know even when season one came out, there was controversy with how they handled suicide and how it was portrayed among other things (those rape scenes really made me uncomfortable), but the story was clear: Clay Jensen misses Hannah Baker and we the audience, along with him, discover the circumstances surrounding her and the many people at Liberty High who, according to her, played a role in her decision to end her life, and we learn about Clay's relationship with Hannah and how he was the one person she saw as a safe haven from all the drama and betrayal in her life. Like I said, it was not perfect and a show based on a YA novel that tackles the subject of suicide clearly targeted towards teenagers will always undoubtedly generate discussions on whether or not this is appropriate or ethical (I also have my issues with how it was portrayed in general). But season one of the show was the most concise and simple story to follow. It's a tragedy that portrays how one persons suicide affects everyone in their life, and how we should value life and help one another. There was no need to expand the story to 3 more seasons where it tries to dramatize mental health, school shootings, riots and police brutality, and empathizing with a rapist. The story of Clay Jensen and Hannah Baker is a tragedy. One ends her own life, while the other is left behind to face the repercussions of what that means in a world that failed to recognize her as a person. The tapes, while a controversial aspect of the story, I know, serve as a window into the mind of Hannah Baker and we along with our protagonist Clay, learn the names of individuals Hannah claims played a part in her decision. Like I said, it had problems but season one was fine for what it was. Should have left alone instead of trying to make it the next "Pretty Little Liars" or "The Fosters" or "Riverdale" or whatever teen drama claiming to want to "start a conversation" while failing to even understand what the conversation should even be about.
