In New Orleans, Louisiana, 1 year and a day, after a person has been entombed, they re-open the tombs. All that it left is bones(it gets way over 100 degrees fahrenheit inside and the bodies decay rapidly). They collect the bones, put them in a bag and deposit them in a well inside the tomb. That is how a multitude of people can be entombed in a vault no larger than a large closet. There is nothing new about bagged bones. Where you are at, somebody has done the deceased a kind service.

@jimcabezola30514 ай бұрын
@@crimthann-fathach Are those old coffin parts perhaps reused elsewhere? Are they curated collector's items? I wonder why people would even bother to clear such old vaults nowadays. Is there demand from the living to reuse these vaults for latter-day interments? In many places in continental Europe, a corpse may lie undisturbed for 10-15 years, after which the grave site or tomb is cleared out to accommodate more recently-deceased guests. I've never seen what they do with the remains in such cases, to be honest.

@jeffreyyoung41044 ай бұрын
Hey guys! Great video! Your reaction to the bags makes me chuckle a bit. You have to understand the reason for bagging the remains and the coffin parts. It is very common for cemetery workers, funeral workers, to bag the remains of the people who's coffins have fallen apart, including the coffin parts, when they are going to bring in a new coffin, with the family in attendance. However, they usually do it a day or two before the family is there. They will also ask if the family are satisfied with just having the bags, or if they want new coffins for the bones to be put into. Usually, they go with just the bags in the corner, and sometimes they buy one coffin for all of the bones. So you may have seen a Mausoleum being prepped for a new occupant! They will put the new coffin on the bars you see, as it keeps the coffin off the ground, so it doesn't decay as fast, if the bars are still good. Looking at the bags, they are fertilizer bags, which does not surprise me, with cemetery workers, so they may be just cleaning it up for resealing later? But I still believe they may have a new occupant coming soon. And the reason for the two bags, some keep the coffin parts separate from the remains, and some toss them all in one bag. Keep up the great work guys! I enjoy the videos you are making very much, and it makes me wish I could do the same!
@rogerstlaurent87044 ай бұрын

Thanks Jeffrey, we don't have ground keepers here on the old graveyards and there is no way a funeral person would do that. Maybe a relative? So tell me this how are the going to move that huge graveslab out of there, the graveyard is packed tight together..I have never witnessed anything like this here and I've seen a lot, I can only think this was vandals or graverobbers, where are the skulls? Why not place the remains in the coffin instead? I've so many questions lol
@SerenitySueGraveyards4 ай бұрын
I'm not so sure, how will they get them in there? How will they remove that grave slab?
@jeffreyyoung41044 ай бұрын
@@SerenitySueGraveyards Well, it wouldn't be grave robbers, as they left the bags there, and to move large slabs, they do it the way they have been for centuries, poles and ropes, and big guys with lots of strength. Once they get the slab lifted, they put rollers under and can roll it off, or they can carry it if they have to. Once the stairs are uncovered, they have better access.
@rogerstlaurent87044 ай бұрын
@@SerenitySueGraveyards I would say using a Skid Steer using forks like a forklift has .. As for vandals or grave robbing i don't think so the place was neatly cleaned up i am sure there was more than 2 bags used to clean up the vault more like 4 or 5 bags were used where the rest of the remains go well that will be a mystery

Why would they leave them there, surely after bagging them up they'd remove them?
@shawnnewell45414 ай бұрын
@SerenitySueGraveyards That is a good question. I think, based on your comments, that there were, at one time, other remains there, and people have been removing them either for reburial or resale to medical schools, etc. In the US, we have had funeral homes and medical school morgues sell bones and tissue for profit. The people who participated in this are going away for 40+ years if convicted. This is a life sentence for most of them. Also, since it's a federal crime, they have to serve at least 1/3 of their sentence before being considered for parole.

Hi sue Steve from England. Sorry a bit late, got hammered last night. Beautiful grave yard and headstones . Very interesting place. Where I live there is a tunnel from the pub to an Abbey, not allowed to go into it. More tunnels around but kept on the QT. Another great video sue.

Fabulous crypt!! Such an incongruous discovery, a modern plastic bag full of ancient bones 😮😮😮😮Perhaps someone intends to return.

You are brave. Like a typical explorer. The bones in a feed bag was creepy cause it was weird.

Hey Serenity Sue. Love you and Grave Visitations. You guys make the best videos on earth. Got me as your new subscriber to both of your channels cause i love watching you guys weekly. It warms my heart seeing you guys doing this stuff. You guys are amazing at what you 2 do. Going to visit these old cemeteries. The graves are nothing like the ones that we have here in the states. Can't tell if they are granite or not. Most the markers here in the states are usually marble or granite depending on what cemeteries people visit. Other than that amazing video. You make the best videos on KZbin.

My pop use work in a cemetary as a groundkeeper and it's possible the underground tunnel/vault you entered has been weather damaged over the years and the coffin broke apart, hence the handles and parts in a bag and separating the bone from the debris to re-bury and fix the tomb. 😊
@SerenitySueGraveyards4 ай бұрын
Oh yes, that's definitely something that may have happened

Well, it’s still a very neat and beautiful place. Seems like time takes it toll on everything. Just to be able to read some from the 1700’s is amazing. You are braver than me, I wouldn’t be able to go into a crypt, too eerie. Thank you for the video, tc and stay safe always. 24:07
