Hello there, my dear viewers. Allow me to take you on a journey to the heart of Ireland, to the old graveyard in Trim, Co Meath. This place has a dark and mysterious history, with the tomb of a jealous man and woman standing as a haunting reminder of the past. Legend has it that the couple were so filled with jealousy and anger that they were buried in a similar tomb as his first wife!
But that's not the only strange thing about this place. You'll discover, as we make our way through the graveyard, that the tomb is covered in pins and needles. Not just any pins and needles - these are said to possess magical healing powers, especially for warts. It's a bizarre and intriguing sight, one that has attracted visitors from far and wide.
Join us as we delve into the history and mystery of this ancient graveyard, exploring the legends and folklore that make it such a captivating place. Whether you believe in the power of these pins and needles or not, one thing is for sure: this is a story you won't soon forget.

Hi Sue and G V. That Sheridan family crest is a yellow background with a green lion and 3 shamrocks one below the lion and one each at the two top corners of the crest. And you may find this of interest since you see the deer or stag above the crest on the tombstone.... The Latin on the family crest is " Cervus Lacessitus Leo" or translated " A Deer caught by Leo" . I am trying to read the text under the coat of arms on the tombstone but it is hard to read. If i can decipher it i will. It looks like something about " Unhurried Foot **** Next" is what I think I can translate from it. Cheers!

Beautiful cemetary Sue. By the way, my friend is back from her trip to Ireland. She said it was absolutely beautiful. She also went to Scotland as well. Something about Lockness. Her daughter,s cat,s name is Nessy! Lol. I guess after the Lockness monster.😂 Her son and daughter accompanied her on her trip! Loved the end with the tomb of the jealous man and woman. Spectacular.

Ah yes, the Angel of Death with the hourglass reminding us all of our mortality here on Earth. Beautiful. Thanks for showing this gorgeous headstone. A true reminder. Don't worry about the pronunciation, we all have different pronunciations for a variety of words depending on the country we are from but I think we all know what you are referring to. This was very cool, love the tours of these graveyards. The flowers in the tree stump were amazing. The golden headstone from the sun, just beautiful. Take care guys, thanks again. Edit: The tomb of the Jealous Man & Woman was so very interesting. I would have never guessed warts. Hopefully no warts befall you guys. Lol. Thought for sure it would have been for protection.

@@SerenitySueGraveyards I understand the pronunciation thing completely. G-mother from Scotland, everyone else, Ireland. My dad passed his accent down to us with different pronunciations. I used to get skewered in primary school. I used to make G-mother mad to hear her yell at me in Gaelic, I loved to listen to her. I was a torch as a kid. 🙃

The different carvings are amazing, especially for being put in stone. The tools we ave now, make it easy to do, but back in the 1800’s , they had to make all the tools by hand. Quite the artistry. Very clever. Ty for this tour. Tc and stay safe.

It’s a really nicely kept old Churchyard Sue.Some fabulous old stones a real testament to the workmanship of the old stonemasons. These new ones that have very light engraving on will not last as long sadly as they are cut by machines now.The old Effigies have worn well considering they are exposed to the elements and have been for many years.I love finding the really old ones don’t you?.. thanks for taking us along .In it’s day this place must have looked spectacular ,then Henry the 8th came along.Such sacrilege…Love n Light 🥰

Amazing content Sue . The high crosses you refer to are known as the Celtic Crosses and of course The Celts from the North Western Germanic Tribes they invaded Wales , Scotland and Ireland . there were more celts in Ireland and to this day there are 120 million of Celtic descent in North South America , Australasi , Africa and Europe , The largest single group from Ireland , followed by Scotland, Wales, and Cornwall . Hence the reason you see more of the Celtic crosses in Ireland They were In England also but not so many . They inhabited Britain known as Pritani around the Iron age and after the Bronze Age who were known as the Beaker People however they did not last long as the Celtic People . Then came the Romans and we all of us know that the Greatest CELTIC WARRIORS was QUEEN BOUDICA Hope this has been of some use to you two intrepid Brave Journeyman . Found your Program last week and My sister and I Visiting my fathers and other Relatives graves In Shropshire England . Buried mainly in the new part from the 1800 hundreds onwards . although there are older Tombs they are the other side many pre Victorian It is a huge Cemetery and magnificently kept especially the more modern graves . However when my sister and I used to meet up we would bring shears . cleaning material to clean some graves up so you could see the writing and cut down Ivy and weeds etc we used to do three of four graves . depending on the amount of work . Noone ever saw us do it but it seemed to me so sad that graves were left to rot and overgrow . Keep up the Good work both love it , all you do .

Thank you, I've been to so many graveyards where we have hundreds of celtic crosses, especially from the early 1900s, unfortunately they are not as popular now. I've found the largest highcross to the smallest high cross in Ireland too

The ruins are in pretty good condition, considering their age. The same for the monuments in the graveyard. Very interesting story about the pins and the tomb. It looks like someone is trying to keep the grounds in somewhat good condition. Thank you very much Sue, and GV, for a very fine walking tour. This was a great video. Are you planning on visiting a cemetery or graveyard for Halloween 🎃? Take care. 😊

I grew up Catholic. I still follow most of the teachings, but I was wondering if you believe that Mary Magdalene was a disciple. And please other people don’t bash me because I asked that question.

Hi, no one will bash you here I promise that, I too was raised as a Catholic and even though I don't go to mass, I still visit churches to pray or light a candle, in my own time. Also for their beauty and history. As far as Mary Magdalene, I can only say what I was thought, which was she was a follower of Jesus, a disciple, she witnessed his death and so many times on older headstones she depicted with the virgin Mary beneath our Lord. So yes I believe ❤️

An old wives tale I heard is, if you put a knife under the birthing bed, it will cut the pain in half. Wishful thinking from a time before real pain meds. Awsome video.

This is so amazing. BTW, as you know, my last name is rare in Ireland, but we definitely came out of Dublin. At one time, I even had my great grandfather's address from Dublin. You have a friend with my sir name and I watched the Documentary on the men who did the hunger strike in the English prison, he is also a Walker I wonder if we are related I also found a relative in Dublin a Sister Mary Walker but I don't have contact with her, she came to New York just to meet me in the 90's.

@@SerenitySueGraveyards wow, we could be related! See if she knows if he was related to Mayor James J Walker of New York City from 1926-1932. That's how we connected Sister Walker and myself. My great grandfather was also James Walker from Dublin, the IRB got him to New York on a ship, he was wanted by the English government.
