I was so happy when you said that this would smell great on a woman. I only ever tried Fille de Berlin and Feminite du Bois but when I tried this, it was instant love. On my skin though, the honey really comes out, while I am still trying to process the rest since I only got it about a day ago. I wasn't really sure if it is office-appropriate but I just couldn't stop myself from wearing it today. I heard no complaints and was surrounded by an air of happiness because of this fragrance. Needless to say, I had a great work day today.

I have never smelled such an irresistible fragrance like Chergui ❤ Chergui is best fragrance in the world , no doubt ! Serge Lutens scents are so fascinating to me. A lot of them tend to be quite heavy, but I like them nonetheless. I own two SL scents myself and I swear I could own five or ten more. It is a wonderful house to explore and I would highly recommend trying more from the line!

Cooool! I have tried quite a few but only own this one. The first one I tried was En Filles Aguilles? Or however you spell it haha. It was the piney one, that one went horribly wrong on my skin. Also the one that so many people talk about..erm...Feminite Du Bois, I have a few samples of that one so I'm gonna do that one next. The orange blossom one was ok. I'm still waiting to have my eureka moment with this brand. Oh.....Santal Majascule!!! WANT!

Chergui was my first SL full bottle and I've never looked back!! Right now my favorite from this house is La Fille de Berlin, such a GORGEOUS jammy rose. I always go back to Chergui though, never gets old.

Chergui was my first Lutens fragrance, and I also purchased it blindly based on the notes. I loved it from first sniff! It is probably my favourite Lutens apart from Cuir Mauresque which is absolutely divine. I love the honey and tobacco notes in Chergui, but I particularly love the hay note. I do not find the hay note to be very similar to vetiver at all. This is true, slightly sweet, freshly baled hay just as you would find it in a stable (I used to own horses, so I know that note very well indeed). Chergui is a true crowd pleaser. I hope they never stop making it. For my first Lutens, a lot of people recommended Amber Sultan which I eventually did buy as well, but I never once regretted choosing Chergui over Amber Sultan first, and whilst Amber Sultan has a very impressive amber note, Amber Sultan has never impressed me nearly as much as Chergui. I do not find Chergui either particularly masculine or feminine. It is very unisex, but I have often thought it would be very sexy on a man. For some reason, I imagine it as the perfume Rita Hayworth could have worn. The first time I smelt it, I had an imagine of her in a very relaxed, unglamorous, languid pose in a country setting, her mane of chestnut hair flowing, her softly checkered blouse loosely falling off her milky shoulders. It just seemed like she would have been the perfect model to promote this gorgeous fragrance. Which male could I picture wearing it? Hmmm, not really sure about that....maybe a young Spencer Tracy or a young Michael Landon? 😃

Tried several Lutens and "Chergui" is the only one I really fell in love with. To me it smells a little (please don't laugh) like Les Exclusives by Guerlain, a little "Cuir Beluga", a little "Tonka Impèriale" as well as a little "Shalimar"esque... don't ask me why but that's the way Chergui smells on my skin...

This fragrance was irresistible to me. Sweet tobacco and spice, just lovely. It's strong so I like just a dab on each wrist and on my chest to smell for myself. It also is a bit masculine but it just speaks to me. Love, love, love.

It was one of the first tobacco fragrances I smelled, it's great and yes I think it's a bit masculine too by normal standards, I have found so many other awesome tobacco's since this one. :)

ouch110 Fragrance Reviews You absolutely did! You never fail to deliver your ideas in the most interesting way. I'll be waiting for your thoughts on FdB, autumn is definitely its perfect time, since it keeps you in this elegant silky cocoon (for some reason I feel as is if I were wrapped in a rather opulent silky kimono while wearing it) it is warm and cool at the same time, doing its magic on the skin. And the projection - oh my, 1-2 sprays will leave you in a fairy forest and fill the room for many hours. x

The one I'd like to buy from Palais Royale one day is SL Bornéo 1834 - my favourite patchouli with a subtle cocoa undertone, give it a try if you can. Oh, and L'incendiaire is fabulous, I adore Serge's attitude towards the art of perfumery, it's priceless.

Been Busy busy have i. very well reviewed pal, i used to have this, but i sold it, it was one of my first niche buys a few years ago, a blind buy too along with ambre sultan, it's my type of fragrance for sure but there's just something in it that I didn't get on with, maybe it's not sweet enough for me I don't know, i had a couple of similar frags at the time which i pefered and a couple of similar ones like back to black and tabac rouge which i have aquired since, which i prefer.

I'm not sure Chergui has been reformulated. It does (like some other SLs) exist in two concentrations, „white label“ (like yours) = standard concentration, black label = higher concentration. I think Kristo / BetawiBlood did a video on this topic. Some „black labels“ are only available in SL-Boutiques, but Chergui is regularily available in both versions, I think. I suppose that's why some experience better performance with it than others.

I'm actually just guessing - I noticed that some people haven't heard about the labeling at SL, so maybe they would have tried a decant of the black label-Chergui, than bought a white label-Chergui and be disappointed because of its performance. As of now I haven't experienced any drastic reformulations (if any) with SL-fragrances (haven't tested Chergui yet, though).

It has been reformulated at least 4 times since it’s initial release. It’s still Chergui but the main facets (denseness, sweetness, longevity) differ depending on the formulation.

Its like a night city air on a cloudy night... Lol... It has a lot of lavender. At first it smells clean and sharp but the lavender made itself known after about 1 hour or so. You should try it! I loved it at first but hated it later.

Hay and I do not always get along. How prominent is the hay note in this? Is it noticeable throughout, or only in certain stages of development? If not for the hay note, I feel this would be a safe blind buy for me.

It's not prominent all the time, I notice it more in the opening, but there are so many other things that show themselves like tobacco, and fruits. It's kinda fuzzy and dusky too. I wouldn't blind buy this one ya know. The reviews are glittering which made me buy it and it was not what I expected. Still lovely...but different. It has a masculine opening for sure, I thought..huh? This smells a bit like Le Male by JPG haha. It took many wearings to get to like it. :)

Well, surprise... I blind bought it!!! Just got it yesterday (it took forever to be delivered). Anyway, I loved it at first sniff! I wish I had bought it before autumn 🍂 but it works for winter too. I do get hay in the beginning but that went away soon enough for me and wasn't overbearing when it was there. I agree the opening is somewhat masculine but then it turns more feminine after 20-30 minutes, on me anyway. ❤️❤️

From what I've heard it's a sad perfume. The notes are: Violet, green notes, soil tincture, plum tree, chrysanthemum and incense.
