A good episode starring Phil Silvers and Fred Gwynne

This is one of the best Bilko episodes ever! Nat Hiken was a total genius, and Fred Gwynne "nailed it" as "The Stomach!" One interesting point of this episode, is that all the songs Ernie played were all written by Jule Styne who was a personal friend of Phil Silvers. He also appeared as himself in one of the episodes!!

I watched "My Cousin Vinny" with the grand kids. They thought Fred Gwynne was great, so I showed them this. Doing my best to keep the flame burning.

Why isn't any UK TV broadcaster showing the greatest comedy show ever. This is 2020, we have corona but we need to be transported to Fort Baxter !

Phil Silvers was a comedic genius. I wish he was more remembered in the younger generation now.

Ignoring angry Barry White's words above (I imagine Bilko conned him out of money in one of his early recording contracts, surely a tragic story) I started watching Bilko as a kid back in the early 90's when they were regularly showing the re-runs on the BBC. I thought they were just tremendous. Snappy writing and the gag editing at times was early Simpson's level. Yeah, Bilko still makes me laugh. :)

Later The Stomach enters a contest with the camp eating champion, a huge bully named Hog Henderson. At the outset Fred, still in a fog of absent-minded misery, says "Hello, Hog." And Henderson turns into a starstruck fan: "He called me Hog! The Stomach remembered my name!"
