3 Waltzes or, alternatively, Valses, by Sergei Eduardovich Bortkiewicz, explores the various subtypes of the overall Waltz dance form. The first has the harmonic trappings of Chopin with a Lyapunovian twist, the second keeps the Chopinesque form but also recalls the style of Liszt, the third plays with the lifelong work of Strauss, all the while maintaining a clear Bortkievician voice.

He just loves the key of 7 # ! Can anybody explain?

I wouldn't specifically about his preference, however the key of 7# or d flat has all the black keys, Chopin also loved the black keys, especially a flat. Sergei seems heavily influenced by Chopin's so why wouldn't he love black keys.. just a guess obviously.

Most composers write whichever key signature they think will make their piece easier to sightread. For example, I can see him using chords like F# minor, B major, E major and A major. Writing in C# major instead of Db major may make it easier to read those chords.

Because he was going to A major, which is visually an easier modulation on the eyes from 7 sharps, rather than making that modulation from 5 flats.

@@ruanpingshan But most pianists find D-flat Major (5 flats) an easier key to read and play than C# Major (7 sharps). In fact, I own an edition of Bach's WTC, Book I, in which the Prelude and Fugue no. 3, which Bach wrote in C# Major, is also printed in D-flat Major in an appendix. It's certainly easier for me to think in D-flat!

The final bars of the first waltz are very disjointed stylistically but it is very enjoyable despite.
