Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff was a Russian composer, virtuoso pianist, and conductor of the late Romantic period. Some of his compositions are staples in the classical music repertoire.
In Rachmaninoff's work, early influences of Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Balakirev, Mussorgsky, and other Russian composers gave way to a personal style notable for its song-like melodicism, expressiveness and rich orchestral colors. Rachmaninoff often featured the piano in his compositions, and he explored the expressive possibilities of the instrument through his own skills as a pianist.

Thank you. I don't think there was mention of the devastation SVR suffered after the first catastrophic performance of his First Symphony. Without Dr. Dahl's intervention one of the greatest composers might have been lost to us and judging by the photograph 10:14 that would have been the loss of a powerful musician!

isn't it interesting that some of the most competent composers ever to play music , died of sickness either of the mind or of the body. This is a sure footprint that Satan doesn't want us to play music that he used to play before he was cast out of heaven. Don't take my word for it, do the research, and you'll seed a continuous thread of misfortune that came to these people, except for Joseph Haydn who was employed by royalty. When composers served royalty( kings, queens, princes etc), they lived longer!!!!!!
