Glad to have this work with orchestral score. Once I posted this trascription by Respighi with the piano score of the Rachmaninoff's Études-tableaux, but with the orchestral score we can better understand Respighi's orchestration. Thank you!

Wow this is truly marvelous. You actually hear a lot more than a lot of piano recordings because of how complex some of Rachmaninoff’s inner voicings and counterpoint are. For example at 22:03 because of the way it’s scored, the melody in upper strings playing in their lower registers, reinforced by horns, actually comes through whereas in a lot of piano recordings, that same melody which is voiced in the right hand (with accents no less, though their degree of preeminence in concert with the molto marcato in the left is probably difficult to ascertain) is often completely overshadowed by the octave figures in the left hand. Fascinating.

My god... I have been waiting for this score of this set for more than three years! Respighi and Rachmaninoff! They matched together wonderfully!!! His orchestration of those five etudes are one of my favorites forever!!

This is my all-time favourite of Etudes-Tableux by Rachmaninov [and well orchestrated here by Ottorino Respighi] and well beuautifully performed throughout. It`s a great classical work for me.

Wonderful. Such brilliant, sensitive orchestrations.

At around 3:20 there’s a cadence that reminds me of the Boris Godunov death scene from Mussorgsky’s opera. I’m expecting the bass to play an ascending scale but Respighi didn’t add it. What we really need is a pianist to transcribe Respighi’s orchestration of Rachmaninoff’s piano piece back to a piano piece, adding all the little bits of colour and sustained notes

SCAN-DA-LEUX!!!!! 😈

This is stupendous. Did Racg ever see or hear the score. The Eflat one works better this way. It's really easy to play but so fast and makes a lotta noise people were eimpressed when i played it as a kid. The gorgeous a minor also works well with this fuller orchestration !

Second Etude is not op. 33 nr. 4, but op. 33 nr. 6

Although this etude is now commonly referred to as Op. 33 No. 6, it was originally Op. 33 No. 4 when Rachmaninoff published it, because the C minor and D minor Op. 33 etudes were also removed from the set. It was only when these two etudes were published posthumously, that the numbering for this etude changed from No. 4 to No. 6.
