Such and amazing movie made me feel love again in my heart again after so many years. An amazing true story. Sad they never said i love you. Also sad that ramon may have committed suicide because he was forced to by the KGB.

He died for real. Sergei wasn’t at his funeral in that last scene, but at a theatre performance that reminded him of Roman.

Roman was given an ultimatum; he had three days to decide whether he’d go fight in Afghanistan or be tried for homosexual misconduct bringing shame to his wife and child. It’s implied that he committed suicide because he could not tolerate the double life anymore, not because of shame but because of not having space to live and to love fully and openly.
