I LOVE the way he plays & processes the game. You can tell he is great at evaluating his options & often chooses the right one. He always looks to move the ball quickly to teammates after winning the ball or beating a defender. It's something I wish Pulisic did more often. Advance the ball as quickly as possible, change angle of attack as quickly as possible to exploit the spaces & create new ones. Part of this may be Ajax's style of play the last couple seasons, but if you hold the ball too long then your teammates runs aren't in sync & you end up moving the ball or forcing a cross to players standing still. Dest ANTICIPATES movements well & puts balls where his teammates will be, not where they are.

He's better skill wise so far but strength and experience are why Yedlin is still the first option. He's played over 150 Premier League matches, mostly as a starter, for a reason. He's been playing on that level for years and is one of the few with World Cup experience.

And if we wanna be fair, Dest got benched a fair amount of times as well. Yedlin isn't as skilled but he isn't further ahead of him yet. He hasn't played in as tough a league as the Prem for 4 years. There are still flaws in his game. He needs to grow and get experience with Ajax.

His weaknesses are : 1. Not a very good high crosser like arnold or Kimmich or robertson... But not really a problem because Barcelona doesn't have a target man or no. 9 However, he's good at combining and moving into space and also play low crosses and cutbacks 2. His defensive positioning is suspect at times, but it can improve as he's only played 1 top flight season ... And also he was a left winger previously so it's not natural That's his attacking and defensive weakness Coupled with: 3. He's 5"8 so he's bad at aerial duels for now, he only wins 22% of his headers But pele was 5"8 and one of the greatest headers of all time, so he can fix it with training and positioning when the ball is in the air
