A pneumonic to remember that annuities are LIFO. "Annuities provide income for LIFO." Annuities are supposed to provide payments for your entire life and take money on a Last In First Out (LIFO) basis.

Hi Dean, Can you please clarify for me, do you purchase a mutual fund at the NAV or POP? I thought you always but a mutual fund at NAV which consists of NAV plus a sales charge. Thank you kindly!

The NAV plus the sales charge is the POP. If there is no sales charge the NAV plus 0 = POP.

Dean, I am understanding this correctly, the fund receives the 12b-1 fee from the sponsors. Are the fund’s board of directors the ones authorizing the spending and charge of these fees? Also, who is responsible for the setup/formation of a mutual fund? Is the investment advisor putting the prospectus together? Thank you very much

No. The 12b-1 promotional expense is PAID by a deduction from the fund. The fund pays the fee. To implement a 12b-1 promotional expenses requires a vote by the board of directors of the fund. To start a fund need $100,000 and 100 shareholders.
