Been playing this on repeat. One of the best songs on the album. This and Burn, Witches burn!

In some ways, through lyrical imagery, I could consider this album to be a "prequel" to Mirrorworld. In a sense of how they're establishing timelines with the last two albums, this one being more of a colonial dark age, and Mirrorworld being more of a post-apocalyptic future. Kind of cool concepts if you follow the lyricism of the albums.

This band kind of lost its magic with the departure of Thomen and Grapow (see what I did there?). Now it's just a fairly fun power metal band, nothing less, but certainly nothing more. But well, as long as people enjoy it... :-)

Agreed. As Daylight Dies was by no means perfect, but it had promise which was not followed up on, either on Mirrorworld or Magic (though the latter is way above the former). If Stauch and Grapow had stayed on I believe they could have evolved into something great, but they seem to have stagnated in same old-same old song structures and weak productions that won't let the inherent power in the music show. (Grapow is no better off what with the atrocity that was PumpKings...) This song is however pretty good, definitely my favorite from Magic. Crunchy guitars, thrilling basslines and a sugary sweet, melodic chorus that doesn't just repeat the song title for once. It could have done without losing tempo in the ending choruses, but still.

When paired with the right musicians, especially Grapow is capable of great things indeed. It would have been the better choice for him to put Masterplan on ice and staying with Serious Black.

Diego Cañadas Gonzalez, we're not crying. We're simply musing at how it might have turned out. Of course (and I can only speak for myself here) I've listened to Magic as well. And Mirrorworld. My opinions are not uninformed. Magic is by no means a bad album. It's a fun listen, though not an exceptional one. I do not wish either Kiske or Lande back to Helloween or Masterplan respectively (well.. not that I'm complaining about the Helloween reunion), and that's not what this is about. This is about a band that has released three fairly standard power metal albums when the initial line-up implied they could have done so much more. Still, you obviously love the album, and many others with you, and that opinion is just as valid as mine.

I will ruin the party of experts here but UNFORTUNATELY these two guys wrote almost NOTHING for the first album, behind performing their parts and perhaps one or two songs barely so...ouch im sorry, just had to give some inside info cause it was a bit unfair to the rest of the guys :-)

+pvgroup I knew that, so no problems there. Yet, when you're working on an album as a band (especially with such heavyweights), that's bound to do something with either structure or performance. One thing I'm looking for these days in power metal can best be described as "focus"; this was present throughout lots of parts of the first album, the songs I heard from the second album sounded a bit like they were a chore. For a good example of what I mean by "focus", consider Elvenking. Lots of promise early in their career, but it took them until The Pagan Manifesto to get things properly aligned.
