People have to move further away from their work as nothing available to rent to the locals which causes more traffic. They really do need to think of the locals more, but thats no fault of the tourists. Have a great time when you come

I’m not a Spanish speaker but make the effort to order my drinks in the language which always goes down well My most recent trip was in March this year and was excellent. I agree with this you tuber, the infra structure has to accommodate the islanders with affordable housing and control the housing market. The islands need tourism to survive and tourist should respect the islands culture and not misbehave. I could go on, this video encapsulates the concerns of islanders very well. if you like the sun and sea there are not many places to beat. Tourism industry is out of control. You do not need to see people in places packed like sardines. A place can suffer when everything seems to rely on tourism. Tourists can go to their chosen resorts and have a great time. That doesn't change the fact that not all the locals are making big money or that greed does not affect their quality of life. Like the amount of garbage, the needs for water, etc etc. Not to mention what tourism and the bazillions of new resorts can do to the physical landscape and the environment. In other word, you can't turn countries to hotels and make them affordable for tourists without dealing with huge consequences.

What protesters are saying is that the island needs quality tourists so respect the environment and local culture. I agree with some of that, walking down the strip in PDC the amount of British pubs and restaurants is unreal, it's becoming like Alicante. I think tourism is good for the island, but the cheap drink and fish n chips model isn't working. Locals, who the island belongs to, must feel pushed out. I think the real issue however is the housing market being pushed up and made scarce because of holiday lets - that is an issue for their government though and not tourists. I would personally like to see a bit more of local culture back in Lanzarote, its a beautiful place and last time I was there I was hard pushed to find much that wasn't British in PDC and any tourist destinations. money isn't everything when you're losing your cultural identity

This year Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote. We have always had brilliant times whichever island we have visited and have never threatened or unsafe, in fact we actually feel safer in the Canaries than at home. What we have noticed though, is that the resorts, shops and even hotels are not as busy as they used to be. We will always return to islands that make us feel that we are on holiday at home, but with the warmth and friendly people that we usually encouter. Fuerteventura in two weeks, Tenerife in September and Lanzarote in December. Gran Canaria we have just come back from recently. *******

The staff are very friendly and the apartments very clean. I always go out of season as flights are much cheaper and costs generally lower. My holiday needs are very basic as I just go to chill and relax. So plenty of time round the pool, watching football in the innumerable bars and good music in the evening. I have never experienced any trouble from drunken tourists of any nationality (and tourists from plenty of different countries travel here). It may help being out of season but all the British tourists I have encountered have been friendly and well behaved. Would definitely recommend holidaying here.

Thank you Dave for being "Open and Honest" I was more angry with the media telling us a pack of lies! It's Fake news and that is that. So why the lies and mis-information. My real concern is for the locals and those who have made it their second home. My wife is Mrs Lesley Brown and she is visiting Lanza next month. I cannot cope with heat above 33 degrees. This year it will be insane heat. We live in Borehamwood and last year we were hitting mid thirty's.

We've holidayed in the Canaries probably more than 50 times over the last 20 years or so with no problems at all and these made up stories in the UK press only make us laugh. Great video. Now subscribed!

Treat the people the way you like to be treated.. Great vid.. son and myself heading out in November to spend a few quid that I'd never spend here in a couple of months,, love the Canaries. Paradise compared to here.

I generally ignore anything the Daily Fail publish or assume it’s total rubbish. We’re heading to Lanzarote in August and really looking forward to it. I expect it’ll be busy: it’s August, school holidays and everywhere is the same. Thanks for the videos. Have just found your channel. Have followed.

As usual Dave, the tabloids never let the truth get in the way of a "good" story - ( ie one which might persuade/panic the public into buying their rags! ) Keep up the good work - We will be in PB on Sunday on one of your Ferry trips from Fuerteventura.

I’m currently staying at Costa teguise it’s the 20th/04 and there hasn’t been a posse yet to throw me off the island 🎉 the media should be ashamed of themselves.

Really glad I watched this because we were thinking of doing Lanzarote or Fuerteventura in September,& the headlines over here seriously put us off going. That Birmingham one is relentless in its negativity

I go to Fuerteventura often and I was last there in Sept and Nov, it was lovely. Nov was especially chilled out and quiet. The weather was great to.

Nice one, great content as usual. Looking forward to visiting the island in a couple of weeks time, staying at the barcelo in playa blanca . Watched the videos of it being built and looking forward to a week in the sun , chilling and enjoying the restaurants and bars. Have always felt very welcome by the locals and don’t expect anything different this time around.

Thank you for this video I have seen all the warnings about lanzarote and although I was trying not to be concerned about it I was starting to as I love coming to lanzarote and I always feel very welcome there by one and all, and will be returning next year as a treat to celebrate mine and my wife's 50th and my daughter turning 18 can't think of a better place to go.

Went to Lanzarote in March and noticed near PB many unfinished properties that could easily be used for the local community.

I agree absolutely over the bus services. I used the bus this year for the first time, really great for walking, and CHEAP!

Fully agree with you, especially the closing words. I can agree with the locals if the developers are allowed to keep on building and to sell to rent etc, housing prices will increase too much, making it impossible for locals to live there, I believe Guernsey (TAX HAVEN) has a similar problem and they have had to control housing to allow for local people or they would not have shop workers, bar and restaurant staff etc

Of all the main Canary Islands, Lanzarote is the most traditional. I returned there last November after 41 away and it's still the quiet andtranquil place it's aways being. Yes there has been growth but the Island has kept it's traditional charm.

It’s a biosphere so restricted building design and size, Mr Manrique the local famous artist was the one who campaigned for it to be carefully managed and expansive building to be controlled. Not sure if his principles are still followed so closely now. However he was a major influence in the early days of the tourism . Hence the natural landscapes are protected and no huge high rise hotels allowed. Thank goodness 👍🏻

Blame it on all inclusive holidays. I hate them. It has ruined the lovely lively feel of nearly every resort. No one goes out to bars, clubs and restaurants anymore

At immigration Tenerife the first thing you see is a big green and white banner ad proclaiming "The app you need for buying property in Tenerife". On leaving the airport there are billboards advertising new developments for sale. If they are genuinely upset, then may I suggest some affordable alternatives that welcome us and offer proper all inclusive holidays. Portugal, France, Italy, The Balkans, Greece, Malta, Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, The Azores, Madeira, Cape Verde, The Gambia. (Includes islands) The U.S., Mexico, and Dominican Republic are also competitive.......
