MY MAN FINALLY GOT A LEXUS! My 1990 LS400 has almost 300k miles and Im the 5th owner, drove it across two states and its never needed anything. My first LS400 I had that saved my live 2 years ago in a bad car accident had 8 owners and 300k miles as well and it never needed anything, these cars are the car for people who don’t want to constantly fix things 24/7. The square key copy card is just a copy for all the keys you can keep at home in a closet or something if you ever lose your keys or need copies made that has a physical laser cut copy to copy off of and the key code itself for laser cutting machines. And the rear “safe” is actually a fridge for drinks or whatever!

The key with the code is what you take to the dealer for a new set of keys, it also shows you actually own the car.

The mirrors have a circular clip on top that holds the spring down. The teeth have pulled away. Simply pull the clip out, re-bend the teeth and slide it back on. Preferably using a large socket. Going to need some force. I am in the finishing stages of restoring my 2001 LS. Do the camshaft seals when you do the timing belt. Otherwise, just enjoy!

So glad you finally added a Lexus to the fleet…the LS 430 is an awesome machine…I bet you come to love it! I think you could make a series out of cleaning it up, sorting it out mechanically and cosmetically…get a professional PDR person to attend to the dents and then you buff, polish and wax it. Add a DIY ceramic coating…make the series about building a dependable luxury vehicle for under X amount. And if/when you want to sell it I’d be a buyer.

Be prepared for parts sticker shock. LS 430 parts are crazy expensive. The Car Care Nut channel recently did a restoration of an LS430, and the mechanic AMD spared no expense, and it was a great series to watch. Looking forward to seeing what you do 😊
@joeyt60892 ай бұрын
That is the downside of a Lexus vs a Mercedes. You have to pick cheaper parts more often vs astronomical parts somewhat infrequently. My LS was Camry reliable but even wear parts were insane. Like $600 control arms with no aftermarket alternatives.
@christophermartin972Ай бұрын
@@joeyt6089I don’t think the OEM parts are too high priced for what you’re getting. I just replaced mt alternator and the OEM was only $300, the original lasted 22 yrs and 275k miles. Brake pads and rotors aren’t too expensive either. I did an OEM wheel bearing that was $360. I guess you get what you pay for 😂

A poor man's way to fix those flopping side mirrors is to drive a decently long wood screw from the top of the mirror case nearest the vehicle down toward the mounting bracket on the door (I drilled a hole first with a power drill). It is all plastic so a wood nail did the trick when the exact same thing happened to my side power mirrors on my 2001 (and yes the power function still worked on both mirrors). The only thing that didn't work was the ability to fold the mirrors back, which was a fair price to pay for two functioning side mirrors.

Looks like you got a 3UZ swap for the MG! Joking aside, that is a very good use of $850 for a daily driver. I’m currently in Japan for a couple more years and I spent a lot more than you did on my one owner 2002 Toyota UCF30 Celsior (JDM LS430) and I am very happy with it. It is the most comfortable car I’ve ever driven, and I love opening it up on the toll roads. Mine had the original timing belt on it that I changed last month at 68,000 kilometers when my radiator showed its age and the belt was still in okay condition, it actually was just starting to come apart from the inside stitching. Plus the timing belt job is quite easy, just keep in mind everything is aluminum and I also recommend referring the video that Car Care Nut did on this subject. I love my Toyota for the same reasons you do and then some. The soft close doors are great for keeping things quiet when necessary. I have some fun stuff planned for my car too, one thing being the ECU being tuned by Car Tune in NZ in a year or so before it comes stateside. And I’m with you on the wheels, I have stock 17 inch wheels on mine that I hate so I have some 2012 ES350 17s on the way that should do well, so you have some other Lexus options to have fun with. These cars treat their owners very well and are very fun to drive, well worth their cost. Congratulations on winning your car at such a good price!

Make sure you take a look at that timing belt brother! Pretty sure thats an interference motor and if it breaks you know what thst means, valaves slapping pistons, no bueno. I also recommend you get a wheel and tire brush, i prefe the chemical guys brand long handle. Itll save your back, do a better job, and get in nooks and crannies easier and better. Also when you use the same wash mitt that you use for your car on wheels you pickup in the mitt tiny metal particles from the brake pads due to their composition and the next car you wash itll put tiny scratches all in the paint. I recommend a really shaggy wash mitt too. Chemical guys has a good one and style of one but you can find the same style from other brands cheaper. Another tip is EagleOne A2Z all tire and wheel cleaner. Works grandly. Good on all wheels no matter the finish type. I come back with Black Magic Tire Wet Foam to gloss the tires, its easy, makes them look good, and protects tires and replenishes loss oil for uv and heat damage! Been detailing cars since i was 12. Heh 🤘✌️🖖 Lovin the new ride as always Keep on Keepin on! And congrats on the 60k subscribers! Such a great milestone!

First of all...what a steal on an amazing car! Would be cool to do a video (could be a collab with another KZbinr like The Car Care Nut, The Car Wizard or anyone else who knows Toyota products) where a mechanic looks iver everything and gives the rundown of what's good and what needs to be addressed. Any needed repairs discovered in that video could give you a series of videos to make with the car. Another cool thing would be to take the car on its first long trip under your ownership to see and capture how it handles the journey.

The 430 I believe has a self quiet close trunk! There’s a button on the inside near latch on the trunk. Because if you force it close with your hand, you could break it or you close it halfway and then mechanically it will close the rest of the way by itself. It’s a closed trunk so it doesn’t slam.
