When I ended up rewatching years later, I was fascinated at how much hidden details that goes beyond just purely words. Sima Yi has always been a favorite of mine.While he never matched Zhuge Liang in the novel he did secure his families future with savvy and patience. If this series covers the conquest of Shu, and the rise and fall of Deng Ai that would be awesome as too.

The loss of life around Henei that time can be blamed upon the Coalition's incompetence in regards to coordinating attacks and supplying armies, forces supposedly overseen by Yuan Shao and Han Fu when they lost their first encounter against Dong Zhuo's forces in a blocking action at a ford along the northern approaches to ashen Luoyang. Here the involved commander Wang Kuang decided to retreat from the costly combat defeat and retired his warlord career for the rest of his numbered days in Taishan to be later killed by his vengeful in-laws (his superior Yuan Shao had executed his kinsman who was sent by Dong Zhuo as an envoy to compromise with the rebels), and his jurisdiction as Administrator of Henei suddenly surrendered to vacancy filled by the freed warlord Zhang Yang, fresh from his captivity among the Xiongnu vagrants led by the figurehead exiled Chanyu Yufuluo.

Reading current chapter of the manga Kingdom, Spring and Autumm period, the current comander of Zhao against Qin is currently Sima Shang and Li Mu (as of current chapter). I wonder if Sima Shang also relate to Sima Yi family somehow as history leave Sima Shang's fate opened ended as he was stripped of military authority when the Zhao king executed Limu due to court politics.

Because most Chinese surnames were based on the names of different titles/regions/lands/kingdoms in China from the feudal era, which were mostly single character words. Most inigenous Chinese double character surnames are either identity/position related, or a derivative of another single character surnames. Sima for example is just named after the government post. Xiahou literaly means marquis of Xia. Zhuge is just a derivative of Ge.
