Depends entirely on how you want to use them. If you just use them to chase down archers then no it would actually be a downgrade for more cost but if you want them to run into infantry and do hammer and anvil then it would be worth it

@@SeriousTrivia How about the upgrade of cavalries to their heavier version (e.g. Tiger and Leopard to heavy version, Xiliang, Cataphracts)? Would these be worth it or are there more factors to be considered?

Not worth the cost in my opinion. The base version is good enough for pretty much all situations
