When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. - Acts 2:1-4

We remember Pentecost, an important day in Christian history. Originally a Jewish festival called Shavuot, it was celebrated 50 days after Passover to thank God for the harvest.
Christians, Pentecost is special because it marks the day Jesus’ promise to send the Holy Spirit was fulfilled (Joel 2:28-29; Acts 1:4-5). On this day, the Holy Spirit came to the apostles as tongues of fire, allowing them to speak in different languages (Acts 2:1-4). This miracle helped them share the gospel with people from various backgrounds. Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, preached boldly, and about 3,000 people were baptized that day (Acts 2:14-41).
Pentecost shows the Holy Spirit’s power to bring people together and start the Church’s mission to spread the gospel. It reminds us to seek a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit and be active in God’s work. As we celebrate Pentecost, let’s remember its significance and embrace the Holy Spirit’s power and unity to spread the gospel with love and courage.
