Serotta ATI +XTR 950 top MTB from 90' Restoration

For a very long time I had my titanium 26" Serotta ATi hanging on the wall, maybe still with the original dirt from the end of the millennium. Of course for this purpose it didn't matter that it was in the condition I put it away decades ago. But one fine day I decided it deserved a total make over. I bought stickers from the US (with duty they came out like a cheap Alu frame) split the bike to the bolt and "scratched" the frame again , so it was then in 95' original. Put new stickers on and chased the rust out of the steering bearings, cleaned and polished the rest of the very well preserved components. Highlights are the milled Avid brakes on the bearing mount...they were a total steal back then! I bought them because the XTR brakes started knocking loudly after a while. When I built them I still replaced the short arm derailleur with a long one and of course the chain. The bike is for me a memory of the beautiful times of the late 90s, the mountain bike boom in our country and my dad who bought me this frame back then. The Serotta ATi and Shimano XTR 950 is the pinnacle of technology of its time, so it definitely deserves this tribute video!

Hodně dlouhou dobu mně visela na zdi moje titanová 26" Serotta ATi, možná ještě s originál špínou z konce tisíciletí. Samozřejmě k tomuto účelu nevadilo, že je ve stavu jak jsem ji odložil před desetiletími. Jednoho krásného dne jsem si ale řekl, že si zaslouží totální servis. Koupil jsem z USA samolepky (se clem vyšly jak levnej Alu rám), rozdělal jsem kolo do šroubku a znovu "podrápal" rám , tak to bylo tehdy v 95' originál. Nalepil nové samolepky a vyhnal rez z ložisek řízení, vyčistil a vyleštil zbytek velmi zachovalých komponentů. Vrcholem jsou frézované Avid brzdy na ložiskovém uložení...tehdy stály totální ranec! Koupil jsem si je , protože ixtéerka s paralelogramem po čase začaly nahlas klepat. Při stavbě jsem ještě vyměnil přehazovačku s krátkým ramínkem za dlouhé a k tomu samozřejmě i řetez. Kolo je pro mě vzpomínkou na krásné časy konce 90. let, na boom horských kol u nás i na mého tátu, který mně tento rám tehdy koupil. Serotta ATi a Shimano XTR 950 je vrcholem techniky své doby a tak si toto tribute video určitě zaslouží!

that's a very clean build - nice 🙂 where I live in the UK (Swansea) we had a bike shop called Shmoos Cycles run by Shmoo (Maurice). He was at the forefront of BMX racing in its earliest days, and one of the first people in the UK to sell Muddy Fox mountain bikes. He was a really good salesman and talked me into buying one even though I had zero interest in it!! Still, I sold the bike for a small profit so all ended well!

Hello, the frame and the components are absolutely gorgeous. In my opinion the frame could have received a bit more love and care. The little scotch pad work here and there made its overall appearance even more cloudy. Otherwise a dream bike.

Nice bike…Ti Serotta are very nice mountain bikes! I have a Marin Rocky Ridge XTR that I have to do the same with in raw aluminium…gives me some inspiration to mix this in with my Daccordi, Chesini and Giame. I hope you heal up well!

Eu esta semana perdi um GT dos anos 90 de aro 26 que ia pegar para reformar, mas fiquei pensando de mais ai fui mandar uma mensagem para o vendedor "estou indo buscar" o cara tinha vendido d;( É o novo desafio meu reformar uma MTB GT dos anos 90 e em breve consigo uma outra é só termos paciência que aparece .
