Love the moss-covered ball. There's a satisfaction in seeing some cast off human-made thing repurposed by Nature. I spent a couple of winters in my RV on the Texas Gulf Coast beach. After storms, I would find ordinary items flung up on the shore, that had become home to plants and little clams on their journey through the Gulf. Coconuts, shoes, wooden boat parts, all transformed into beautiful objets d'art by the sea. I even found a round, solid wood knob the size of a bowling ball, which I guessed to have broken off a newel post on a staircase during a hurricane. Perhaps it had rolled all the way from the Caribbean... Anyway, I enjoyed watching you build all 3 of the terrariums (terraria?). I hope the memories they stir in you make you and your family smile for many years to come.

i've always felt a weird connection to moss. my childhood home had a pretty big yard and there was no grass, just moss - i remember just sitting on the ground and staring at the moss and the bugs in it. even these days i go into the woods, sit down and stare at the ground. i've seen so many beautiful things, two of my favourites are when i watched tadpoles swim around annoying the dragonfly larvae in a little pond overgrown with plants and the time i watched a spider spin a whole web. moss, bugs and aquatic plants are my favourite things in the entire world. the baseball is oddly beautiful, normal everyday objects covered in moss always are - i once found a couch covered in moss and i kind of wanted to bring it home. beautiful terrariums as always :)

The idea of using material from a specific area to create a piece that connects you to the area is very beautiful and inspiring. Nearly 3 years ago my dad bought my grandmothers house after she died and he really loves to spend time there, but he lives and works here in the city about 250km away from it, so he can’t spend more than maybe two weekends per month at the house. I think I will accompany him on his next trip to the house and gather plants and soil from the garden so I can build a terrarium and give it to him for Christmas so he can always have a piece of his childhood home close to him. If the plants have already died back due to the cold, I‘ll just wait out on the idea, use the time to find the perfect container and then gift it to him for his birthday in June.

My husband and I are hopefully buying a home soon and while I am excited to leave our current studio loft apartment, we've been here for almost 9 years and I'll miss it somewhat, but we have a shared yard space that has some great wee spots to gather moss and such. It will be a nice reminder of our humble beginnings while we whimisyfy our own garden (fingers crossed)

The Slice bottle probably could sell for a good amount of money too, even with a terrarium in it! But I have a feeling you won't be letting go of it. That mossy baseball is a dream find for me. The third jar with plants and substrate from your yard and pond is both beautiful physically and emotionally.
