Serpent Lake | Backpacking in Northern New Mexico

Backpacking the Serpent Lake trail in the Carson National Forest of New Mexico. It’s early June, the nights are cold, and the snow is lingering on the trails and shaded mountain slopes; but the mountains are calling my name!

Awesome video. I’m from New Mexico, and I haven’t been hiking on that trail since the fire, and it’s sad to see so many burned trees. Lots of snow there because northern New Mexico got some really late snowstorms after a very dry winter. I’ve subscribed to your channel, and I’m looking forward to watching more of your adventures.

Thanks for watching! I love Northern New Mexico. It’s so beautiful! Yea I did this trail back in 2019 and it’s very different after the burns. Sad for sure. It was neat seeing how quickly nature rebounds and the beauty in the new growth though. I was actually trying to get out to NM last year but couldn’t find a good window during the fires. If you have any recommendations for me in NM I’d love the hear them! I did this Serpent Lake trip in June this year and am working on the video for another trip I was able to take in August. So you’ll see that one coming out in the next few weeks. We did Truchas Lakes and peak! I just love that whole area! Thanks for subscribing and for the comment!

Gotta do truchas peak from the Borrego mesa side just beautiful country too pretty alpine lakes..lots of country too
