Do you torque the tensioner bolt?

You might have the old idler pulley washer on. I just realized this mistake on my w212

The MB parts catalog doesn't show there is a washer on those pulleys nor did I see a washer while taking the old pulleys out🤔, I'll check it the next time I'm in there.

@@ZakiGarage 2:45 I can see the old washer. Pulled my pulley off today and recognized the belt rubbed on the engine side due to it being pushed away from both washers.

I want to know how many km or years need to replace the belt?

I don't think Mercedes specify an interval for the belts, but they do say to check the belt with every service and replace if worn. Mine was replaced first time at 160K km, a bit late I think. Something else to look out for is the water pump, it was also bad at the time but I didn't notice until I did the belt service, otherwise I would have changed the pump with the belts.

@@Spidepig09 Had an unusual sound coming from the belt/pulleys section. Took the belt off and checked all the pulleys that the belt drives and found that the water pump had some play in it. Can see what I'm talking about in my water pump replacement video kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5bSan6glq1jsJI .

Can you leave the tensioner locking pin in place when reinstalling the belt? Then tension the tensioner while pulling the pin after the belt is completely routed?

You can try but I would assume it would be hard to get the pin out with the belt in the way 🤔

Hi, Please watch my 2012 ML350. Do you think the noise is because of idler pulley? This comes only during cold starts (only first start in the morning and not later starts). Moreover it does not come in the summer or warm weather. I just replaced the PCV valve and intake gaskets due to P2279 error. This noise was there even before replacement but till date has never been an issue. I also changed serpentine belt an year back. Good start is to remove the belt and check by spinning the pulleys by hand with the engine off if they make any noises. Also, do the same with the water pump and the alternator. I would recommend just replacing all the pulleys, belt, and water pump if they haven't been replaced in over 150k km. Another check when the engine is on and making the noises, try turning on and off the cold ac system and see if there is a noise change, could be a bad ac compressor.
