I found rewarding for Ellie touching the vest with her nose really helped her be confident when I put it on. She is very gear shy. Stacy, seriously you’re doing an amazing job. You expectation are clear and consistent. Astro will continue to thrive with your guidance ❤️

I love how you explain how you are getting him comfortable with the statues. Me and my dog do the same touching thing when we see something she doesn’t like. And also me and her are working on stair manners because we saw then here. Thank you.

Whenever my dog’s stomach gets upset (which is almost every time he’s around family because they give him all of their scraps) I mix majority plain cooked oatmeal and a scoop or two of canned pumpkin purée into his kibble and give him lil frozen pumpkin balls for treats instead of regular treats and his diarrhea usually goes away within 2 days...maybe worth a try.

My service dog does the exact same thing with her vest so we just take it slow and I reward her anytime she is staying still when putting her vest on instead of like moving away.

I give him Proviable probiotics because he has a very sensitive stomach. The vet recommended it. You might ask your vet if Astro has more trouble with different foods and treats.

Not sure if needed but if (hopefully not) for a next time purée (canned) pumpkin is a good alternative to feed instead of the chicken/rice combo for upset tummy/diarrhea. Just wanted to share. Keep up the good work! You do a great job with Astro!

@@AstroFromTheBlue you can do the CGC (canine good citizens test) (similar version of PA test) or Service dog PA test (pa=public access) i am not sure of others but those are the main ones

No hate at all, I think your trying your best and doing good with astro, but he does display a lot of signs of stress/anxiety. Maybe some more confidence building while not working could help! Implementing fun games in places he feels uncomfortable could help engagement and confidence 💜

Also with the gear shyness I would click and treat as soon as astro showed any interest, waiting for him to lay down calmly while introducing the gear can come later after he's built a more positive association with the gear. Or even better you could slowly teach him to gear up himself, by putting his head willingly through the vest! I hope this helps some 😊
