Thank you...I was originally looking at the orbit as a trick, never thought about for service dog purposes. I am actually taking therapy dog Prep class with my almost 2 year old dark red golden. He has passed CGC Advanced and Urban but we are struggling with the high emotion, overexcitedness on meet and greets. This is soooo important for just our every day going places and yet the calm still eludes us. I have taken many classes, and worked with private trainers. We need to be able to walk through crowds of people and dogs...we've been working on ATTN; spins on the right and left; paw targeting; between (legs); and this video reminded me of the "get behind"...anything to help us feel less stressed and overexcited by people and dogs. He goes everywhere with me and is a lover so he wants to meet everyone; which has been limited because of his current over-the-top emotion. Any suggestions would be appreciated

i’m getting my sdit on wednesday (26th may) and i’m super excited, i’m training him at home because of money and that sending him to a professional trainer would be too hard since i would like to bond with him and crowd control is one of the things i want to teach him so thank you!

Thank you so much for this. I'm autistic and have CPTSD, crowds are awful for me, currently training a chocolate lab for my service dog, but we can't go to class right now because I just had a hysterectomy so I've been looking for stuff to do at home that's new and engaging for her. She loves to move but I can't right now so this is perfect for us right now and eventually we can build up to walking.

She's very focused on the food even attempting to jump up for the food her eyes are targeted on her hands. This is why you want to try the training without food and then give the food at the end of training

Nice training I like all the details you included in your video. I also am training my own service animal. Phoenix is an Australian blue heeler mixed with ??? Recently we had a traumatizing encounter with a service animal ignorant employee at a grocery store. It resulted in significant PTSD episodes over the next few weeks. The good thing that came out of it was a resurgence of our training. We developed something quite different for creating space between myself and another. I would love to start sharing our training on KZbin videos as well but I’m not quite sure how to get started.

I'm planning on getting a sd prospect in the next year or two. I'm torn between a few breeds (labs, goldens, goldendoodles) but I was wondering how old she is in this video? I'm trying to get an example of the average adult size of a female golden. Thank you, this video was so helpful!

There’s this nice husky puppy at the shelter and we’re going back in a few days to get her used to me then the next few times we’re going to test her to see if she’d be a good service dog. She’s a little timid so me and my mom are going to have to see if she can get over that before we adopt her but she seems pretty good with focusing and is relatively calm. My dad isn’t too happy about getting more animals even if it’s to help me but my mom is going to get one no matter what he says. Also on an unrelated note, the volunteers in the dog kennels are so much nicer than the people in the kitty korner. Cat people scare me lol

My dad is also not happy with another animal in the house. XD hes like 3 Cats and a horse is too much we should only have a horse and a cat. Lol Then my therapist is like "we're gonna get a Dr to write your SD note" wish you luck with your dog

Autumn Dalton personally I would not use this with a 10 pound dog. My SD is 30 pounds and I probably wouldn’t do it with a smaller dog then mine.
@Norrischan
@Norrischan 4 жыл бұрын
You can definitely train this more for fun but as a task wise, i would have to agree with K9 Blueprint, 10lbs might be a bit small, aside from just the getting stepped on part, the other thing to keep in mind is it might not be effective for crowd control since the dog is not big enough to create that distance. But like i said you can always teach it for fun because it is a great exercise for their brain and can help with future task that may have similar over lap

@@Bellbeesevenacresfarm yes I think it depends on the public you live with. In my area I don’t think it would be an issue because in general everyone loves dogs (like everyone has a dog) but are respectful of SDs (knowledgeable about them) and wouldn’t think twice about moving aside for a dog (no matter the size) in a vest (where I am specifically that is the law).

I was very surprised to hear that you are not a professional trainer! You seem to train your dog so well I for sure thought you did this for a living! I am interested in training my border collie as my psychiatric service dog, he’s super intelligent but also extremely high energy so I’m not sure if its a good idea? Thoughts? Also what resources do you use for training? I’ve had dogs my whole life and have always had a had in their basic obedience so I’m familiar with training to that extent but as far as service dog training I’m really lost... some of the people I’ve found on KZbin and instagram that I’ve reached out to have not responded and in my own research it seems like there are a TON of resources for service dogs for physical disabilities however psychiatric service dog training has not been easy to find! Any help would be great, thank you!

I have a border collie as my service dog and one of the ways that I control his energy is heaps of stimulation before we work. We have a bit of a deal! If I want to take him out for pa assistance, he gets an hour or two of fun in the yard. In my yard we have an agility course and heaps of toys. Some stuff to keep in mind for stimulation - agility - licki mats or kongs -hide and seek - sniff work - trick fetch (they do a trick, you throw the ball) - if you have the time AND money get him into herding. It’s a great sport for them. Not only does it get rid of pent up energy and make him happier to work. He knows that working means he gets heaps of play!!!!

Awesome, very clear video. I taught Around as just a trick but might progress it as a task. I'm not certain how this could be used on a leash though.
@Clean_Up_Pup
@Clean_Up_Pup 2 жыл бұрын
this could work if you fashioned yourself a loose belt (one that cannot fall past your hips, but also is not tight) and loop the belt through your leash handle. This keeps your dog on a leash, but also makes it hands free and with this set up, would give it 360 degree motion around you. I prefer to leash to my beltloop (Not with the 360 because I've not had a need for it yet. My SDiT is not ready for that yet) because it keeps my hands free to do whatever I need to do.

@Norrischan

Hello Soroya! thank you for watching and supporting the channel 💕 In the US no certification is needed so i did not work with any organization. If you reside in the USA please take a look at ADA.gov to learn your rights and do not get scammed by any online places that is stating they will certify your dog to be a service dog 💕

this is different from place to place, you can simply check with where you are taking them, she is a full service dog now, however even when she was training on this she was already able to fully task on other needed task so she was a full service dog in this video as well.

Does anyone know if small dogs can do this task?
@Clean_Up_Pup
@Clean_Up_Pup 2 жыл бұрын
TECHNICALLY any dog can do the task. Whether or not it is effective is the true question here. I would lean into no, simply out of fear of safety for the dog. In the right crowd, it may not be noticed and will either fail at the task (meaning people do not move for it) or it will get hurt by being stepped on.

Wonderful work but please be sure to note in your videos that it’s unlawful to train your service dog tasks they don’t need to learn that do not benefit the handler. I’ve been seeing people train their dogs tasks they don’t need and it’s very upsetting. You know the ada says tasks that help mitigate a person’s disability.
@haldouglas4773
@haldouglas4773 4 жыл бұрын
Axel Blake Hello there! (: While it's illegal to claim your service dog provides such tasks (the ones not needed), it is not illegal. On top of that it is extremely beneficial and recommended for service dogs to continue learning new things throughout their career. While I'm sure your comment is appreciated, you don't know what tasks people need performed for them, and it's extremely rude to ask about someone's disability. Have a good day. (:

A task that doesn't mitigate the handler's disability is a trick. There's no harm in training tricks, definitely not illegal to train a trick.
