I know that this video is like 4 years old, but like its the most helpful video I could find on youtube that has great explanation and is very detailed! I love sewing and I didn't want to spend all the money on new gear for my SDiT, so this video was amazing for helping me to get a good start and finish. Super easy tutorial and it was my first time learning how to make an adjustable strap thanks to you! Now I can't stop making more vests because it's so fun and easy because of your video. Will definitely be recommending this video in the near future. Have a great day! :)

How do i figure out how long i need the webbing for the straps to be to make it adjustable?
@JenFarrer11 ай бұрын
After you figure out how wide your vest is going to be, measure around your dog and get a rough estimate of how many inches and then for the strap that goes around the belly. For example, let’s say that it’s 10 inches, I would make that piece of webbing about 17 inches so you have enough room to sew it in, add the toggle, flip it over and it’ll still have enough room for adjustment to go tight enough & also A little looser if you need it to go over a jacket or something for them. The front webbing will start at about the middle of their shoulders (on the side) if that makes sense. Once again, make sure you cut a little extra to allow for a seam allowance. If in question, cut a little longer because you can always sew it and tack it up to make it tighter, you can’t add length.

Hi Jen. Having Problem with the strapping portion. Do you want the front of the strapping to be the 8 1/2 inches across from shoulder to shoulder on the dog that I’m working on? So maybe you start with a 13 inch length and then do all the selling am buckling?

Hey Jen, I hope this isn't too much to ask but how do you finish the vest? do you keep sewing until there is only a small hole left and then flip it and sew up the small opening from the pretty side out? The video is amazing and super helpful!

Yes! That is what I did. I can’t believe I didn’t include that 🤣 sorry. I just sewed until there was a tiny space left, flipped it inside out and then tucked the little bits and to try to make it even and sewed it shut.

@emilyk70423 жыл бұрын

@JenFarrer3 жыл бұрын
I like to have about 2” of space from wear the vest ends to the top of her arm. So like right above her elbow if she’s sitting. Obviously that’s going to vary depending on how big your dog is because 2 inches would be a ton of space on a Chihuahua where it would be nothing on a great Dane 🤣 there is a link to a little template that you can kind of scale and play with. I i’m not a pattern designer so it was the best I could do 😬 The way I determined the fit for my dog was by looking online to see what looked correct on other dog. If you are unsure, I would definitely start a little bigger than you think you need because you can always make it smaller but you can’t glue the fabric back on.

This is really cute. I need like an extra small LOL because I have a 4 pound tiny toy poodle. Pharaby is beautiful!! Also need one Pharabys size because my older daughter is getting a standard. PS thanks for sharing. Also, what service did you go through to get her certified As a service dog?
@JenFarrer2 жыл бұрын
Hi. I’m glad you are enjoying the pattern. There are no such things as service dogs registrations or certifications here in the US. They’re all scams. The ID cards are fake too & cause handlers a ton of trouble. You just need to talk to your doctor and have them recommend a service dog as part of your treatment plan. They will give you the doctors note to back you up if you ever need it. If you are still training, I make training planners in my Etsy shop & ADA cards too.
