Man, for someone that will change the races on a new rotor,turn them, clean the caliper bolts and add loctite, that caliper hanging by the hose is quite the surprise fora old hand,you know better than that,lol, excellent video though as always,always enjoy them.

I definitely was taught the old school way to repack the bearings, that plunger tool is nifty...didn't know about it. And Matt did a couple extra things with lubing the caliper pins and using lock tight....never did that. SO! I learned something 👍

That's great to hear you learned something J PP as I know you're very knowledgeable on these things. I used the plunger when I did the brakes on tarheelfox and it was quite easy although messy.

Helpful! I haven’t installed new bearings or packed them before, so I’ll be sure to do that when I install mine soon. Back when I was a teenager I would reuse that cotter pin over and over without even thinking about it!

@dntlss
@dntlss Жыл бұрын
I know this is all old comment but it might help someone out,best way to bed any pads is just to drive the car for the first few miles normally, no panic stops, just get them good and warm and thats it, been doing it that way for decades from a Corvette to a Subaru, people try to make that a big deal when it isn't,i have seen some newer super expensive cars doing these crazy stops and pulling on the emergency brake when bedding pads then they wonder why they need new pads at 10 thousand miles,lol But you are right, same with packing bearings,you could have a degree from Harvard packing bearings and someone will tell you you are doing it wrong,nothing to it, just make sure that bearing is packed good any way you wanna do it,the way Matt does it here is perfect, i have installed wheel bearings on 50 thousand pound forklifts, never had a problem.

@@GearHead704 it's one hard braking event from 100+ to warp city, particularly on heavier weight cars. My stripper coupe? Semi OK...a convertible GT with power everything...I dunno. We wasted lots of these cars brakes back in the 90s :)
