I can almost forgive issues given the mileage of the motor but that the car is still being produced but that engine components are already out of production / not available is insane. In fact I would have thought it was illegal as I thought manufacturers had to supply parts for a certain amount of years?!

Interesting comment here on this video. I did watch it and know it perfectly shows Sreten’s hubris. He’s got no actual training in engine building or machining, doing things with out any documentation. It’s bad idea to just think you can keep getting away with good results and not actually have the training. He’s had 3 engine failures out of 6 (7?) after he touched them. Dude looks at parts and things he knows the metallurgy. Seriously. Having a massive following won’t confer true competency, but he’ll keep milking the YT dollars.

@@hansbrix2495 I agree with you that he's not qualified, however I doubt he didn't do any research or ask professionals for advice or help before purchasing or working on the Maserati, I mean its common sense. This still doesn't excuse the shortcomings in the design and maintainability of the car, I mean it has cast rods in a 500hp turbocharged high strung engine, definitely a fuck up on Maseratis part. He admits in the video I think that this project was entirely to expand his audiences and it failed, so yeah guy should stick to beemers

@@therealmudafuka7200 I’m a ME, spending over a decade at an OEM in their engine mfg and design division. Pankl is a premier supplier. Listening to someone/anyone talk out of their ass about metallurgical properties as a glance all the while winging it and thinking well I seen a BMW engine or two and it did this or that. Also assessing wear by eye with zero measurements or specs THINKING he can conclude how an engine failed. This is just AMAZING hubris. Ferrari (and Pankl, etc) engineers are no joke. Fine just blame FCA, Stellantis, etc. Don’t blame your self of the hacks you do by not following procedures or minimal training. That’s what happened…

I own one of the original Monaco blue 6speed m5’s if I’m ever in the area I’ll be sure to stop by and check in. 67k miles and just about everything has been replaced thus far. Love these cars!

Why not do a DCT conversion instead? You’re going from seven gears to six gears with a manual swap, which may be more involving, but slower overall, since these high revving engines need closer gear ratio spacing.

I don't view the DCT as an upgrade over the SMG. If you're looking for shear performance, there's loads of cars faster than an E60 M5 these days. The 6-speed transforms the driving experience and reliability of the vehicle, and delivers a timeless driving experience.
