Jeesh, I've been using WD-40 and it's helped every time. I'm unsure how that could damge anything but I'll take your word for it.

Mine had made the same noise & unzipped 12 inches apart on one side. I will get the silicone and follow your directions. Does it matter what kind of silicone spray? Thanks for posting this video

How do you get it back on track? My dog ran full-speed into it and the lower left side slipped out.
