Hey guys! Love the walnut color. The finish you picked was absolutely amazing. I just have two tidbits to add for anyone else that might be on this journey: Consider using polycarbonate instead of glass (plexiglass is a good alternative) because it will not shatter. It's the same stuff motorcycle windshields are made of. The other tidbit is for the authors: consider using a kickstand or hydraulic arm for the window as the wind should not be under estimated. Last thing you want is the chain link to break and a 40 # window to come crashing down. Even if a customer is clear, that would be a bad day for any fingers in the way. Other than that, you guys still a really stellar job with this window! Thank you for sharing!

I’m guessing polycarbonate is more scratch resistant compared to plexi? Couldn’t believe how expensive the plexi was. Good call on the arm support. I originally bought gas strut hinges but where they bolt on wasn’t wide enough to support them.

@@PressOnMobileCoffee we plexi is awesome stuff but will still crack. Polycarbonate just bends. Next time your at home depot, check it out. It's super easy to cut and fairly cheap. 90$ for 72x48"

Love the aesthetic! My kids are modifying a camper for a lemonade stand. Curious how you keep water out?

I actually purchased an awning that I put above the window for when it rains/snows. It's called "awning in a box." I purchased it from Wayfair.

We just had a 16ft mobile bar built for us and we want to make the concession window on the back end much larger. What are the top things to consider or think about before carving into it!? Worried about ruining the structural integrity. Would love some advice!

Hello! If it’s a cargo trailer, you will most likely have metal studs every 16” on center in the walls. I recommend coming in at least the 16” from the corner of the trailer for the side of your window; you don’t have to, but it will be once less metal piece to add if you use the existing stud as the side of the window. Mark your window rough opening measurements making sure they are level and square. You will want to make sure you don’t have any electrical in the area you are about to cut out. Once you cut it out, I would add a piece of metal tubing (it’s probably 1”) as a cross member for the bottom support of the window and one at the top. If it’s a large window, I recommend having the added pieces welded in. You can use metal mending braces and self-tapping metal screws but I don’t recommend it. Hope that all makes sense. Let me know if I need to clarify anything. I am happy to help.

What did you use to fix the pillars on the interior and exterior to the metal itself? What type of screws? Thank you!!
@PressOnMobileCoffee Жыл бұрын
These were furniture screws. The metal is so thin on old trailers that it goes through very easily. However, if you plan to store your trailer uncovered, I would recommend going with stainless steel or galvanized. You can get white or black painted stainless steel as well.

Ok I see. Thank you so much for responding and the tip!!

So pretty! Question though, what do you do when its cold outside, or really hot, or you don't want bugs flying in? I'm confused as to how some trailers can just have an open service window without a sliding glass door or something? Thanks!

Some people put small ac units in their trailers. It doesn’t get unbearable hot where we are. The winters can be a little cold but you can easily add a propane heater. I choose to just dress warmer. The espresso machine and hot water heater put out a good deal of heat already. As for the window, some health codes require a screen or sliding window but that’s mostly for people preparing food. I’ve had very little issues with bugs in general honestly.

Working on something similar. Is there a reason you didn’t put, or feel necessary to put butyl tape or a sealant anywhere on the frame?
@PressOnMobileCoffee Жыл бұрын
Oh I actually did put butyl tape on the window frame. I just didn’t show it.

How big are your ceiling tiles? Are they tin or faux tin? And your health dept approved them? Thanks!!
@PressOnMobileCoffee2 жыл бұрын
They are 24x24”. They are actual tin. We purchased them from AmericaTinCeilings.com. It was actually cheaper even with shipping to buy the real tin vs fake. Health code didn’t mind at all. Just has to be an easily washable surface.

@pressonmobilecoffee do you have a video on installing the tin tiles?
