For anyone wondering. This is a climatronic HV/AC box, so you cannot split the heater core section like the manual cable control HV/AC box.

Even being climatronic this tutorial did way to much extra steps than needed. That whole beams doesn't need to come out and neither does the whole heat/ac box.

No, there isn’t. You have to remove all the parts from the video to remove the radiator.

Is it possible to remove the heater core without disconnecting the ac?
@Servicetutorials3 жыл бұрын
No, it’s not possible.
@kenabi2 жыл бұрын
@@Servicetutorials yes it is. its a serious pain, but you have juuuust enough room to move the box back from the wall and get the core out, if done carefully. there's zero reason to mess with the ac assemblies or wiring at all. nor is there any reason to fully remove the climate box from the car itself. several of the steps in this video can be skipped entirely, as they are fully unnecessary.

Too bad you dont accurately have this step by step...wheres the wiper motor at? You have a bolt under the hood 3 minutes in to video to remove but theres all types of shit in front of it that you dont have there?

With all due respect...if your asking this question...I would advise against doing this project. It’s up there as one of the most complex jobs you can do on this car. Think about it...you need to remove the wiper blades as a step towards removing the heater core. Discharge the AC...which is expensive to recharge (Receiver dryer replacement, refrigerant, labor), etc. The risk of damaging an electrical connector / conductor is high, and you will inevitably break something in the process...we all do. Horrible engineering on VW’S part. As I’m responding to this comment 2 weeks after posting, I hope you had success if you took it on. If not and you are still going ahead, consider re foaming the blend doors in the hvac box. That foam has rotted out by now, and most likely chunks have been hitting you in the face on occasion as you drive. Humble Mechanic has a good video on that. Good luck.

@@TRCFL lol...i already did the job...thank you very much...and fixed my heat!....its not too much to expect a step by step project to include each step lol just because i expect it to doesnt mean im not capable to fix my heater core...i did...it would have been helpful not to have to watch other videos to fill in where this video skipped!
@emotionalintelligence7764 жыл бұрын
@@TRCFL First and foremost the point is to replace the damn heater core not disassemble the entire effing car. Mine failed last year and I did not discharge the AC don't understand how stupidity keeps growing because people are too lazy to find out what's factual! Unbolt what's necessary to gain access, replace the core, and put everything back, definitely easier on a mark 4 then a mark 3!
@christopherwilliams38744 жыл бұрын
@@emotionalintelligence776 hey man. I’m about to be doing this on my car soon. My dash is ready to come out once I pull the steering wheel. How were you able to pull the HVAC box away from firewall without disconnecting that AC connection? Also, I have watched a tutorial where the guy said to only loosed the big crossbar. Is that what you did or did you fully remove it? I’m trying to do as little as possible to do the repair. This video makes it seem like a total destruction video. Obviously this is a parts car and isn’t going back together.
