G'day Arek, I've been enjoying a good, long break, and I haven't repaired a camera for seven or eight months, but I have few more videos to do yet. I'll be starting this week with a Retina IIIc I was given.

Nice video, I’ve attempted my first ever repair on a similar compur rapid, so far unsuccessfully but not giving up! Thanks for sharing! Oh btw, ¿you’ve used something to polish shutter blades in another video, what is it exactly? I need it badly! Thank you!

As I recall, Chris uses a common household metal polishing compound called "Brasso". It's a fine metal polish but it also contains some type of a "wax" to leave a polished "shine" and prevent oxidation to the newly cleaned surface. Obviously that "wax" finish is going to be counter-productive to shutter blade movement so Chris emphasizes the importance of a very thorough cleaning with naptha after polishing. Chris also emphasis doing no more than necessary as the bluing of the shutter blades is quite thin and any polishing will be removing the blued surface. You'll note that marked up blades are never returned to "new" condition, but only to "better" and "functional" condition. You're knocking down the high points of rust growth to the level of the blued surface and no more. If there are scratches or patterns of rust, those will be forever, but subdued and no longer affecting performance. Best wishes on your repair. If you're looking for great tips and advise, you came to the right place. Chris is definitely a Master. Especially with a Compur in his hands! :-) Glenn
