it really helps that you take care of all the little issues as them come up instead of dragging them all out. shows you have a really dry clean machine that will continue to give you mostly trouble free service. Im going to be doing the filters on my backhoe trans soon and I'm sure they won't be as clean as your strainer was!
@Digginok4 жыл бұрын
I try, but I’m still neglecting some things. It does help if you don’t have leaks, oil out dirt in. It’s a constant battle it seems, but I still like this machine more than any other I’ve ran. I hope they are clean!

I wear half my work home every day and more so when I'm "mechanic" until the real mechanics show up lol. I work for a county road department in Central Oregon so I'm not 'supposed to' work on the trucks or equipment but a little common sense can get you out of a huckle up and to a much better place for a mechanic to assist. Just yesterday I had a real handy situation unfold while stacking chipseal rock, had rock pushed up as far as the loader could reach from the ground, with the footprint of the pile big enough (say 1500-2000 ton of rock) I built a road up onto the pile to again pile it as high as the loader could reach..........climb the pile on the second level with the loader at say a 45⁰ angle with rear wheels on my road and front end up the second level pile, aaannndd it spits, sputters, coughs, and dies right there! Had half tank of fuel in it yet, but only thing I can figure is it was low enough for the fuel to get below the pick-up and sucked an air bubble because I pulled the filters (before the real mechanics got there) and both were darn neart dry. 25 gallons up the rock pile 5 gallon at a time, and two wrench twisters for 45 minutes of priming with no luck, one says "the parking brake is hydraulic so hold the rocker switch to off and crank it to see if it will generate enough pressure to release and roll back to level or something because this ain't workin"........OK I'll give er a go........waaawaaawaaawwaaaaewwwAa Rooom.........fires right up like nothing ever happened lmao!
@woos314 жыл бұрын
The point of that started to be that just removing the filters and filing them off the pack tank of the work pickup and slugging a 5 gallon jug of diesel 5 trips...........you'da thought I took a shower in the stuff lol, I had it strung from hell to breakfast

Great video Frank! A true testament to your perseverance with maintenance and regular attention to your machine. Congratulations on reaching 10K hours, and I'll bet you remember most of them.....lol Good chat about global sourcing of machine parts and components too. You're a wise man and have knowledge way beyond your years. Much respect for your profession and the dedication you demonstrate for upkeep and maintenance to all your equipment. Work safe! I've owned nothing but Ford/New Holland tractors and backhoes since 1991 and have had very little trouble. My current New Holland I have owned since 2006 and all I've ever done to it is replaced the battery and serviced it. Cant complain about that. Keep the videos coming Frank.

My dear departed wife worked at a New Holland sales, service and rental place for a number of years and they had an excellent reputation among the farmers for the same reasons that you mentioned ! I think a lot of it was because they had a guy that absolutely knew what to do and went above and beyond to help the customers, and that's half the battle ! I don't believe there's any such thing as useless information, it's all worth something ! 😊 Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍 👍

I don't care what brand of machine you operate, when I want work done I care about the quality of work done. The operator makes the machine. I'm like you when it comes to maintenance I do my own. Most of the new stuff unless you have a computer with their 10 grand software the tool set you have is worthless and some people you could give them a new half million dollar machine and 6 months later it isn't worth scrap price. Pride in your work and how you take care of your equipment is almost a lost human trait. Nice to see someone who still has it.

That transmission fluid looked great ! :-) Can you tell if parts for one specific brand of equipment are more expensive than other brand ? Thanks , :-) Wyr God bless
@Digginok4 жыл бұрын
Not sure, most of the factory parts are priced pretty high. But there are more aftermarket parts available for case cat and Deere, might save some there.

I have New Holland lb 110 2005 year backhoe, what kind of oil goes in transmission?
@Digginok3 ай бұрын
Best oil is master trans from new holland. Some say you could use a premium trans hydraulic oil, but I use new holland or case oils.
@jcurran88604 жыл бұрын
I would have put some molybdenum grease on that spline.

It runs in oil shouldn’t need any. But it probably wouldn’t hurt.

10,000 and we saw it go over! Great video, Frank. Do you have or ever use combination ratcheting wrenches? I kept waiting for you to whack a knuckle there one time, LOL.
@Digginok4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I do not have any ratchet wrenches yet, I have been looking at them though. The good brands get pretty pricey.

@@Digginok Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I was watching Scotty Kilmer on KZbin yesterday and he had some out that he really likes so I think I'm going to buy a set and see how they perform. I don't do anywhere near as much as you do, but I do most of my own auto work & also work on my small Kubota and I like the advantage the ratchet gives. I'm looking at Capri or GearWrench sets - they aren't cheap but don't cost a fortune either. There's also a ToolGuard 22 piece set that's both SAE & Metirc that's only $75. Maybe you have some thoughts but if I buy one of them I could let you know how it goes.

A bad operator can do more damage to a machine in one day than you have in 10,000 hrs. Normal wear and tear is just a part of doing business. You have an old school work ethic and it's reflected in your equipment.
