Literally spent hours, red a bunch of articles on google, deleted everything , did a reset and this solved it. I didn’t get a cd cleaner. I just moved it a little bit down to create a small gap till I could spin it as he said. And it worked so great video

So it looks like the head was a little misaligned, good to know you were careful as it seemed to put it back into place. Othertimes it may throw it off. Glad you can play PS3 games again!

Worked for me [ps3 slim] I just moved the lens plate back and forth and it worked not a second later , just don't touch the lense itself, remove the disc and move the lense plate that reads the disc back and fourth.

The laser is very sensitive and it could still have dust particles on it especially if it can read other media. If it can read DVDS/CDS I suggest using the disc cleaner cd run it a few times. Try using rubbing alcohol on a cloth. Worst case scenario the laser may need to be replaced. We don't offer the PS3 tutorial for that but will be uploading the PS2 laser replacement tutorial soon.

The DVD laser is different than the Game Disc Laser. Try to use the disc cleaner cd and clean it.

I have the old one with the 4 USB ports. Played it for like 2 weeks fresh out the box and it stopped reading discs. Wonder if it’s a similar issue 🤔. Been in the closet ever since.

I highly recommend buying the DVD cleaner for $8.33 here amzn.to/3pYc6vQ The laser is extremely sensitive to particles invisible to the eye and may take a few spins and cleanings, especially when in a closet which by then probably is festered with dust. IF not you may need to replace the laser, unfortunately I do not have a tutorial video for the PS3 at the time however do have a PS2 Fat laser replacement.

I believe the PS3 doesn't open up correct? That may be difficult I don't have a PS3 slim, perhaps there may be other tutorials there, but you may have to open it up physical with a screw driver, but be careful in damaging the plastic, and then clean the sensor that way.

@@ServiCompComputerServices okay figured it out and cleaned the lens and now it’ll only play dvds but not blu-rays or games. I’m thinking it’s the blue lens (not the red) because that’s the one that reads blu-rays and games 🤔.

@@serenetheslothqueen Hi Jay the lens is such a delicate part and dust is not visible to eye, before you take it apart have you tried to use the method in the video using a DVD cleaner, and spin it manually and then try to play the DVD cleaner in the PS3 to do a deeper clean. The dust is very fine so it could be possible there is invisible dust on the lens somewhere.

As soon as i put a disc in there the ps3 will try spining the disc but it stops and does a bunch od wierd noises i reckon is the lens and i keep on cleaning it but its not working

Did you try to use a disc cleaner as shown in the video or did you use a microfiber cloth and wiped? I highly recommend buying the disc cleaning disk and allow it to swipe away the fine dust that could be on the laser. If not you might be correct the laser may have to be replaced.

If you look at the disc is it in good condition and no scratches? The laser of the PS3 is very very fine, so there could still be dust that is invisible to eye. Did you buy the disc cleaning product and tried to manually spin the disc or carefully move the laser?
