Can you use one of the HiTec servos to control the lead screw? If so, what can I use to connect the lead screw to the servo?

Keep in mind servos typically rotate about 180 in stock form. If you use the HS-785HB servo or a continuous rotation servo then you could drive the lead-screw multiple turns. There are quite a few unknowns that will change the outcome. Brass on a stainless lead screw runs smooth, but we recommend you lubricate the lead screw with lithium grease to reduce friction. This will greatly increase longevity. Let us know should you have any other questions [e-mail].

What would be the load capacity on a conveyor setup like this, if the rod was 24 inch?

The length of the rod won't determine the load capacity, it's more about the torque of the motor, the orientation of the load applied and the number of v-wheels you have supporting the load. Feel free to email [e-mail] with additional questions!

Your motor also needs gears and brakes otherwise that contraption is not precisely driven because I see lots of inertia motion here :D
