My aunt Judy Conhan introduced me to toasted sesame seeds years ago putting them on salads....then I got addicted to having them on Ezekiel Bread!

You can try but if you move the pods too much by breaking them off the stem, you might lose more seeds. Commercial growers use a harvesting machine but if you have anything less than an acre, this is fine. I think it is too difficult to take the pods off the stem...

Do we need to keep whole stem for drying? Can't we cut out only capsules and keep it for drying?
