"I believe in little things . . . like you and me. And just how big little things can be." That line always makes me cry. So moving and true.

i think part of the reason why these classic ss videos bring tears for us is not only the profound nostalgia, but also the feeling that this is only a remnant of an era past that we are not likely to experience on tv anymore. thank youtube and jonnytbirdzback!

Beautiful. How wonderful that someone wanted us to have songs like this in our childhoods.

This song brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. Joe Raposo was a classic songwriter for children's television. This song points out the fact that little things are far from insignificant. Far from unimportant. Far from not special. Little things are everything, beginning with children and their feelings. I love this song.

I can’t stop crying when I hear this song. I remember seeing it on Sesame Street in the 80’s, right before my parents divorced. It reminds me of the house I lived in before they separated. It’s bittersweet to hear it many years later, and I miss the earlier childhood time frozen in songs like this

Touches me so deeply. Everything . . . the words, the music, the video footage, joe Raposo's voice, everything. It just makes me cry my heart out.

Omg I definitely agree! I thought I was the only one!! It does make your heart melt. Reminds me when my niece was young years ago and we'd watch this over and over when she was 3 or 4 years old.

I really appreciate how the original Sesame Street used clips of kids just hanging out and having fun. I'm not sure if there are any segments like that on TV nowadays but when I was little it always made me happy to see other kids having fun because it reminded me of my own fun times.

Joe Raposo was such a brilliant composer. He was so skilled at writing songs that cut to the heart of the matter so that both kids and adults could understand them. I'd say that as a performer, Mr. Raposo was in the style of Burt Bacharach. Had he sold his songs commercially, it would have been fans of that genre that bought them. But Sesame Street has given his songs an immortality very rarely seen.
@rockintetster4 жыл бұрын
I agree. In addition to Bacharach I hear similarities to Carole King, Laura Nyro, Antonio Carlos Jobim and even hints of Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney.

I remember watching this once in the early 80's even though I know it was from much earlier and through the years it always struck a chord with me though I couldn't quite recall all of the words. It wasn't until a few years ago that I was able to find it again... such bittersweet nostalgia!

A sentimental song, which, like Bein' Green, Wonder Child, Boy From Indiana, How Do You Do, Somebody Come And Play, Song From Kermit, Children Of The World, We Are All Earthlings and all those meaningful and not-so-silly songs from Sesame Street past makes my eyes watery!

I believe in great memories, many of which are the work of Joe Raposo! Raposo covered an entire spectrum - a corny investigator ('Fred, get me a 20'), peppy music for running ('Everybody Run'), soothing aerial tunes ('Flying'), and touching, introspective tunes (like 'Trying and Trying Again' and this one)! Thanks, Joe R.!

Sesame Street needs to dig into it's archives and make a Joe Raposo CD, or even better, a DVD. It's LONG overdue.
@mcpeanutful7 жыл бұрын
Since I feel "It takes a lot of little nuts to make a jar of peanut butter" needs to be redone so that current and future generations of children will know there are other nut butters besides peanut butter (almond butter, cashew butter, pecan butter, walnut butter, macadamia nut butter, soy nut butter, sunflower seed butter) if you want the Joe Raposo CD or DVD to include the original, it would have to say "Disclaimer: This song was made in the 70s and since we have more nut butters now than we did then, it will not meet the needs of today's preschoolers. If buying for a new generation of children, we recommend you buy the current version that portrays the making of other nut butters besides peanut butter."

I believe in little things That you can hardly see Like honeycomb and spider webs And starfish in the sea I believe in little things Like icy drops of rain That melt into the morning mist When winds are warm again I believe in little things Like colors in the sky And noticing the waves roll in And how the flowers die Knowing they'll come back again Whenever it's July I believe in little things Like you and me And just how big Little things can be

They need to at least reissue the 1992 tribute album, "Sing: Songs of Joe Raposo", only one they've done as far as I know and now out-of-print. His music is an essential part of the show! Still love this one, takes me right back.
