We used to drive there in the 1970s. Hundreds of people on the weekends; it was a free form hippie nudist camp; commune/village.. Concession trailer selling snow-cones, cotton candy, hot-dogs, hamburgers, french-fries, sodas, icecream cones.. Acid Music playing all night. It was surreal.

I just read an article in the VC Reporter, they talk about the sheep and how they’ve made a come back since the late 80’s. I’m going to hike up there soon in Search of the Indian drawings and sheep. Great video.

Lots of Chumash sites in that area, and within about 5km of the hot springs is a small ledge/cave that has indian drawings still in them. Have not been there since 1989 but there is no trail to them.

That sounds awesome. I wish I would have known that so I could have checked them out. Thanks for sharing!

Which trailhead did you take?🙂

We started at the Piedra Blanca trailhead. Although if there is a closer trailhead or shorter route i would love to try it!

@@Alishua Thank you. Heading there later this month. I think there are a couple other trails that are shorter. But I believe they may be more difficult and dryer.
