Keynote Dr. Wenyuan Shi, CEO of the Forsyth ADA Institute rocks the lecture Hall with a fantastic talk on the oral microbiome's relationship to Alzheimer's as well as translational considerations. Next up Dr. Kevin Zwezdaryk and Ph.D. student Sara Morris present their data on the possible role of CMV in the onset and progression of Alzheimer's, followed by Dr. William Eimer who works to characterize the innate immune role of Amyloid and Tau as antimicrobial peptides. Dr. Laura Cox shares her important research on the gut microbiota, with emphasis on Bacteriodes, and the future potential for microbiota-modifying agents. Lyme Disease research pioneer Dr. Monica Embers shares her perspectives on the potential role of Borrelia burgdorferi in Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric diseases.
