One of my favorite things about Gabriel Woolf's performance as Sutek is the calmness in his voice, which imho reflects the character's patience. This makes Sutek even more frighteningly because calm villians feel they have nothing to lose, that their opponents are beneath them, and that in their mind they're not a villian at all. This is why "Pyramids of Mars" is one of my favorite Classic stories and why Sutek has always scared the crap out of me. I'm looking forward to next week's episode and Jess's reaction.

49 years later and Sutekh has finally returned! Pyramids of Mars was one of the very first Doctor Who stories I ever watched and helped me in becoming the Whovian I am today, so having this two-part finale actually be a soft-sequel to that with Sutekh returning felt very special, satisfying and rewarding to me. Sutekh is, not just the best one-time Classic Who enemy, but one of my personal favourite Who enemies of all time with no other enemy feeling this powerful, omnipotent and unstoppable. The Doctor was (and still is) clearly scared to death of him, and Sutekh could easily control him, even when he was nearly powerless. The build-up to his return here was perfectly doom-laden and foreboding, and I can't believe they managed to bring back Gabriel Woolf (who's in his 90's now) to reprise him again. He was also the voice of The Beast in the Tenth Doctor story The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, who Carla name-drops here, which leads to the possibility that The Beast was perhaps another form/reincarnation of Sutekh.

(Also like, no reason it couldn't still be a Chameleon Arch) I stand by that even after the end of this episode, we still don't know Susan Triad's true deal, even if it now seems more likely that if Foreman's hidden in this story somewhere, it's Mrs Flood, not her (Doc: "Time Lords can regenerate their faces, it can save us from death or we can use it to hide ourselves away" almost the very next scene, Mrs Flood: "I'm always hiding myself away". Mrs. Flood says, while she is hanging up her coat, "I feel like I've been hiding away forever sometimes". Or something like that. Susan can also be "one who waits", because The Doctor literally locked her out of Idris and abandoned her in the 22nd century. He did it out of love and so she could be with someone. Cheery an ms Flood were both Divas on a soap called Eastenders, which Mel was also on...This is basically an easteneders reunion. And you need to look at Cherry as Yolande,. The make up is stunning. She's a lot younger than she looks here.

It’s hard to believe they are the same actor. Yolande is married to Patrick Truman played by Rudolph Walker who was Harper (American civil war soldier) in The War Games

The Doctor said that Timelords can regenerate to hide away. Mrs Flood says she is mostly hiding away. Mrs Flood is probably the real Susan, or at least another Timelord.

its Mel, you have heard Mels though as it was the name Melody'Riversong used to be Amy's friend in school before going ott to kill hitler. although Mels is used for Melanie as a nickname.

I genuinely had chills watching this one, I adore it man! It's a great reveal and great build up! Couldn't get enough. Going to be honest here, and this is SO small, like atom sized, but... I'm missing seeing the Doctor adorn the long trench coat, unique clothing. Like seeing the Doctor in the brown coat and blue pants reminds me that's their identity and I kind of miss that. I don't know, that doesn't take away from the episode's impact. Really good stuff, Season 14 has been amazing.

Given the new direction RTD is taking the Whoneverse in, adding the supernatural or cosmic deities. I would love a Unit spinoff. Bring back any former companions who want to play in the sandbox again. Do it as a procedural but with monsters and aliens. That would be dope. Also great reaction as usual.

Oh sick, I figured you'd know about Sutekh! Pretty nutty episode, hope the second part can stick the landing.

She's called Mel. Short for Melanie. She used to run a greasy spoon diner in Arizona...I may have made that last bit up. 😂 Of all the characters I speculated might be returning, I must admit I never suspected Sutekh. I'm delighted that they got the same actor to do his voice again. I have a suspicion Mrs Flood may turn out to be a goody. It's just a hunch, I've got nothing to back it up with. Can't wait to see how it all turns out.

My theory about Ruby's mom is that she's Dorothy Bell. They have the same hair and eye color, Dorothy has dealt with Sutekh before, and Ruby's theme is Carol of the BELLS.

Well it is nice to see a reaction was from someone who gets all these references to Sutekh, the Mara, the Trickster etc.

My predictions: Ruby’s “mom” is actually the Trickster, and she is actually the Harbringer of the Trickster Susan Foreman will show up for real We’ll get a reveal that Sutekh and The Beast are the same entity

I think Mrs Flood will be Susan. Its the slight of hand of waving one hand but the other hand has what you're looking for. Also Susan is a Chekov's gun at this point, so Mrs Flood being the more optimistic reveal that she is Susan makes sense at the very end.

I think Ms Flood is The Rani. She has a tardis blue door and her house number is four. There are four letters in Rani. The mention earlier in the season seems too odd to be a one off mention since they never have mentioned or alluded to her before. She mentions she likes to hide away, and they made sure to mention to Ruby regeneration can be used for hiding away as well as survival. I think she regenerated and this was the face she was stuck with. RTD also joked and named the scene so the hand picking up the tooth as “the Ranis hand”.. I don’t know, I think they got the rights to use the Rani in some capacity and that might be a cliffhanger going into deeper into season two.
@bobblebardsley7 ай бұрын
There's also four letters in Ruby, Rose and Kate, and The Master (and Wilf) knocks four times. I think they just like the number 4 in this show 😅
@bryanfoster3627 ай бұрын
The hand that picked up the tooth was at the top of Avengers tower after the battle with Doogie Howser. Mrs. F was not up there at the time.
@itsalexney7 ай бұрын
@@bobblebardsley I mean, you’re right. All these fan service moments are wanting it to be true, but I think it would be awesome. Imagine a reveal as her and the master teaming up again in season two. I mean wasn’t she seen on set or something once in another period clothing? 🤯

@@bryanfoster362 how do you know where Ms flood was lol. Could’ve still been her lol. Doesn’t mean that part is true, but to have RTD speak openly mention the Rani is promising 🤷🏼

The new Tales of the TARDIS episode will be dropping on Thursday. And it sounds like it’ll be a connective tissue between this and the next episode. So you might possibly need to find a way to put it into your schedule before next week's Doctor Who reaction. 😅

Susan and the Doctor; Ruby and her mysterious mother; Rose and Donna; Maestro and the Toymaker; Carla and Cheryl Sunday; Kate and the Brigadier; the babies and Nanny (from Space Babies); Lindy and Penny Pepper-Bean; the Duke and the portrait; Splice and John (from Boom) What is it with parent/child relationships in this series? Clearly there's something inportant to the theme/story within it somehow?
