Just got TelloFPV and it's as good as Colin says. I've only been able to try it out in fairly gusty conditions, but even then it does a half-decent job of returning home. Love the customisable buttons on the controller. Connects to WiFi much better than the stock app, and the controller (GameSir T1d) behaves much more consistently. POI works quite well. Can't wait to try it in calm conditions.

Best thing is that this works when the official Tello app has compatibility issues on some devices (like my Note 9)

JackoWacko Hopefully they do but it’s been a year and they released the edu version bang on time so I think that’s it. I did speak to dji about 10 months ago and they did say they doubt there will be another.

@@Altcine I'm sold! Igot my Tello about the same time you did, love it, but couldn't get the original Tello app to connect with the drone on my new phone. This one works great, it still sends photos to the Tello folder in my gallery! Thanks again Colin!

Hi, tbh I can't even remember the process. I wasn't a fan of using ANY controller with the tello so I got rid of the gamesir and the others early on.

Hey, it's because I took a picture before video. If you take a picture it turns ois off. I did a follow up video and addressed this.

I dont have a tello, but this app looks pretty good. Perthwestozrc has a app demo he did and it is simular to this one. Great job bro, I like the different options now. Glad the tello was ok my friend. Cheers and glad it was just a prop.

Hey Brian, thanks for feedback. Yes the app is brilliant 👌🏾 I also have no lag in my house and there's so much signals floating around. It's amazing how a 3rd party can build something but Ryze didn't care to. I'm actually thinking about buying another controller now just for the fpv.

@@Altcine the CONTROL I use is the gamesir apparently it's the only one that works 100% with the tello.NO WIND TODAY I'm off to the flying field to get so decent footage .I'll post it later .

I got my tello days ag. Its incredible loved it. I also downloaded the app since the default one is a lame. Nevertheless it doesnt go up not even 10mts i guess its my phone (samsung j6) or need the wifi extender. Great review

I tested this app on my s8+ did have a problem with the tello drifting away on its own? Then it just decended and landed a few meters away from me. After that i switched to the tello app without issues. Has anyone else had this issue?

Interesting!!! My tello drifted on this video but I put it down to the wind because when I tried it a few times indoors it was fine. I'm going to try again though because my previous fights indoors we're before the latest update.

@@Altcine i will give it another test when the weather picks up a bit. The day mine drifted was on a windless day so not sure what was wrong with it. Had phone in airplane mode and connected to mifi extender.

if you read the developers thread at tellopilots.com on how these control apps work this is an unlikely scenario. All apps just send stick positions so it doesn't matter which app sends such an "all sticks neutral" command

@@frankweller3424 guys tested yesterday and it seems to be the stick controls on the screen stay in the postion i input. I have to center the sticks manually to stop it from flying on its own. It doesnt do it on the tello app, any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I think a real test of return to home is taking it out to a point where the signal is lost and see if it climbs to the selected rth height and comes back.

Tello isn't meant for that type of flying. I used to push it in the early days until I almost lost it over the sea.

Looks like you have the same problem with image stabilization as I do with my tello... happens right after taking a photo and the only way to get back to stabilization is turn tello off and back on. I see you where in V-mode and not in sport...

Yep, you're 100% correct. It's been a problem since they released the third firmware update I think. This never happened on the early build's. Ryze trying to get the t1d working caused a whole load of problems which they overlooked.

Just get the app. It's much better than the Ryze app, even though that was not bad. So nice to be able to customise buttons on the controller and use some of the buttons that the stock app doesn't use. With my Xiaomi WiFi extender it's been behaving much better than with the Ryze app, which quite often got laggy and lost connection. I haven't had any drop-out with this app, apart from once when I crashed it and the video died, but it was still flying fine. Quick reconnect and it was back to normal.

I have this one, nice for this price, but actually you can find something better with a discount but still, this one is good sometimes some lags, and distance for 100m is really too much, 10m is nice, 15m- goodbye my strange flying friend quality of photos is nice, but not enough a little but still, it's so small, another drones for almost same price are bigger and not so convenient 👋

I do agree on most points. The tello is still definitely a toy but being able to fly this toy where I can't fly Mavic is probably the best thing. I just really like this app for all the extra features. Distance has always been a problem and I think this app would be even better with WiFi repeater.

Did you try it? Mine went bad because the tello app disables eis when you take photos.

Most likely you messed up the settings. Open video settings and double tap the sliders to reset them to the defaults.
