No More Jockeys is a game created by Alex Horne, Tim Key and Mark Watson.
HOW TO PLAY
On each turn, players name a person plus a category they fall under. That person and category are then eliminated, and subsequent people must not fall under that category. As more categories are added it gets harder, and eventually impossible, to name anyone new.

These days you've got too many Jack the Lad's coming in playing big names early instead of just getting themselves in - get yourself set, soak up 4 or 5 rounds and then start to play your big names, your Penelope Pitstops, your Donald Ducks, etc. Not good enough.

I think the final challenge was correct. Given the category was people who wear a smart uniform to work, they must have been referring to wearing-a-smart-uniform-to-work Buzz (Edwin), not retired Buzz. I don't think you could have had that as a category if you were going to then refer to modern day Buzz.

Aldrin was doomed from the start. Buzz sounds like an English word (in fact, like two English words - "buzz" is both a noun and a verb), and his first name when he wore the "fancy uniforms" was Edwin, which violated _two_ rules.

He was not called "the sound that bees make", he was just called something that happened to be a homophone (and homograph) of an English word. But even if you interpret it that way (which they didn't, see below), then you have "bus", that sounds at least as much like "Buzz" as "helmet" sounds like "Helmut". The reason why I say they didn't is that "kohl" is also (a homograph of) an English word (it's in the OED, it's the pigment used in mascara), so they weren't excluding words that are spelled the same way as English words, or they wouldn't have used that as the original example.

The loosest argument would allow this rule only if the drawing was created prior to the challenge. Post-challenge would not stand. A more strict interpretation would be a drawing would only qualify I'd the prisoner is primarily a cartoon. I would also go one further and say the drawing needs to be in official canon. My drawing of Donald Duck on Mars doesn't mean he went to Mars because 1) I'm not an official Disney Artist and 2) it would be a really bad drawing.

A staggering blunder from Key in the opening moments of the game, after a blisteringly confident start. How donald duck is a PERSON that went to prison, I don't know. The sticky problem with the Donald Duck challenge is the question of whether Donald Duck is acting in the films he appears in, or whether we're watching documentary footage of the life of Donald Duck. The point is, Donald Duck doesn't have a life outside of movies and comic books, so his life literally consists of the stories we see him in. Did Donald Duck really go to prison? Well if we define Donal Duck as the concept of Donald Duck, and we accept that there is no physical real Donald Duck, then we must conclude that this conceptual Donald Duck did indeed go to prison. If we consider Donald Duck to be an actor in movies, who spends his spare time living the good life in some Beverly Hills pond, then no, he didn't go to prison, he merely acted as a character that ended up in prison. But I think that is a very hard argument to make.

Key's category was "no more people who, actually, when you properly stop and think about it, have played somebody in a film", which is narrower than actors. So the others would have to prove that Donald Duck, actually, when you properly stop and think about it, played somebody in a film rather than on stage or in some other medium, like a tv show or a commercial. The listing of "actor" on his CV isn't sufficient.

Buzz Aldrin was doomed either way. If you go for the real name (which he had when he wore the "fancy uniforms"), his three names start with and have the same number of syllables. If you go for the nickname, it sounds like an English word.

I think the category was the name is a homophone of an English word. You could argue all words are homophones of themselves. Bit harsh though. Under no circumstances could you possibly argue that the clearly 4-letter word "Buzz" is 3 letters or fewer.

'Buzz' sounds like, but is not spelled like, the English word 'bus'. They are not homophones (except in the Midlands), but the way that rule was described, Buzz could lose out on. The way it was done in game, Alex should have survived.
