I’ve also found that having an animated animal, like a rat in an alley, or swaying leaves of a tree also really helps bringing the set to life. I’m sure there are many animators out there that already know this, but it’s just something to keep in mind especially for those starting out.

*Tip* : go to flea markets yard sales or look in social media to find huge boxes of lego for 5-100 bucks. I actually did this and my parts expanded and so did people that I can add in city shots. I d recommend this to anyone who doesn’t have much useful pieces like I did!

"Your settings have to make sense." "I DON'T WANNA SEE YOU PEOPLE DOING ANY WEIRD STUFF! LIKE PUTTING A DX RACER IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOREST!" On the contrary, the setting only has to make sense within the world you establish. For instance; inception. Weird shit happens all the time in that film. Because it has to do with the connection between dreams and reality. Take this setting, and make it a brick film. A dxracer in the middle of the forrest, suddenly fits. Depends on the context my dude. :D Edit: i paused to comment this. Pretty much anything can indeed work anywhere. Provided the right context. xD

Something interesting i learned from another lego animator, is that you can use greenscreen to edit in more buildings, if you take pictures of the same building, at different angles. In the long run, he says it saved him quite the amount. But it does require a tad bit more, editing skills I'd say. I haven't watched the video yet so idk if you mention this at all, but i thought mentioning it in my comment would be neat. :D
@Edbound4 жыл бұрын
This is actually something me and a couple friends are looking into, though instead of using real lego bricks we were thinking of rendering buildings using on of those 3D Lego building programs, and then incorporating that into backgrounds and stop motion shots. Hopefully we can figure out how to do it seamlessly and accessibly

See these are the types of videos that make me wanna try some filmmaking stuff. Just because it sounds like fun. But uh, i don't have AANANNYYYY of the right equipment to start any of that sorta thing. Do you think it's possible to put LED's in the skinny skyscrapers, like yellow square studs attach to them and somehow have the LED's under the studs? And if so would it look good?
@Edbound4 жыл бұрын
Some of the brickstuff LEDs are so small that they actually DO fit in between studs - it's how the streetlamps in this video are lit. If you hide the wiring behind the bricks, and if the background is far enough out of focus and attention, I think it could be a pretty convincing look. Definitely gonna try it out myself, since it is 100% possible
