It actually didn't really make sense. Garrett bluffs so often. And this did look a bit bluffy with the check back on the turn. So he's hoping an opponent sees it that way and makes a big call from any fairly big hand like AJ or J10

Hustler Live is a great show. 99% of the time every detail of the production is slick and modern. The director, however, made a mistake that made the epic set over set less dramatic. At the end when Wesley finally turned over his cards the director cut away from the perfect split screen shot to an attempt to show Wesley's holdings and then the board? Why in the world would you cut away from Garrett's reaction? Wesley took so long to call that Garrett surely thought he had the winner. What look of shock must have crossed his face! Ryan, I know you love Garrett, but comparing Wesley's "coaching" to Dillon's egregious slow roll is the overstatement of the century c'mon now. I think Wesley genuinely just can't help himself when it comes to wanting to discuss the hands. He's still a new player and in that honeymoon phase where he's head over heels in love with the game. Like a puppy with a new toy. Edit: To be fair, he does need to learn that it's bad etiquette. I wonder if he'd do it to anyone but Garrett, or if he just considers Garrett a close enough poker buddy to where he thinks it's okay. I wouldn't be surprised if Garrett would have explained to him that it's bad etiquette and considered needling if Wes was doing it to another player. Kind of like how he had to explain the concept of slow-rolling to that other guy (not Dylan) once.

He handles losing big pots better than anyone else I’ve seen on the stream, the one exception being the Robbie j4 hand but how can you blame him for being suspicious?, especially when she couldn’t even explain the logic behind her calling his all in. I think the truth is that a lot of the newer Friday night regulars don’t want Garrett playing cause he’s just too good. You don’t see Andy playing anymore either.

G-man is polarized after checking turn and shoving river. It's either the nuts or air. I find it interesting he's turning a medium strength hand as fours into bluff. Very creative maneuvering on that hand.

Yes poker or hold'em can be obviously lopsided on one day to another. Even though my example is pot limit story. Me sitting down at the 2-4 pot limit table and it being probably my 5 time sitting down at a live table at the casino, I proceeded to be delt 4 hands in a row where i showed fullhouses and i believe flopping a straight, in which the 6 other players proceeded to stand up and leave the table. Very confused and a bit richer than 10 minutes before sitting down, i was aware of how lucky ive been at playing all card ganes since i was 5 or 6 yrs old. Playing everything from Cribbage to Gin Rumy to Hearts then learning 5 card draw and stud, 7 card no peek, ive had many examples of stupid card luck often.

Wes "accidentally tricked" Garrett as Garrett himself said. The key to the puzzle is in pre-flop action. G-man opens UTG, Boris calls cutoff, Eli 3-bets button, Wes cold-calls SB. Garrett CALLS!!! Knowing that getting great odds, and closing the action, Boris will always call. Eli is 400 bigs deep. G-man is uncapped UTG opener. There is dead money from two other players on the pot. How frequently Garrett calls with JJ and plays OOP against two players? Almost always he 4-bets JJ, so Garrett knows he has very little (0-5%) JJ in his range, and he MISTAKENLY thinks Wes also realizes that. But Wes does not realize 55 is nuts on J54 and treads so passively and cautiously on all 3 streets that G-man can't put him on 55 especially when G-man has 67s in his range, and possibly 63s a little bit. When G-man arrives at river, he thinks of his own range primarily consisting of 6 value combos of 44 and 55, and 6 bluff combos of 67s. 63s gets there on the turn which G-man would always bet for value / protection. But he would like to check back turn with 76s which is now OESD+pair. In order to balance, he would also check back sets because he knows he can get value by over-shoving river in position. With this range (44, 55, 76s) G-man correctly polarizes the entire range and shoves 2x to maximize value / FE when Wes checks to him against what he perceives to be Wes's range (45s, QQ, AJs). Important to note Wes is not used to playing so deep and is quite likely to cold-call QQ instead of 4-betting and playing an inflated pot against G-man OOP.

The bottomline is that Garrett knows Wesley's rep as being a novice poker player.....he also knows that Wesley will most likely NEVER have that much $$$ in front of him again, so he went for the jugular. Most other opponents he likely just makes a 80% pot bet on the river, not a 2x pot. His greed against an inferior opponent finally got the better of him.
