I finally purchased an inexpensive charger, just to see if I liked using it. It looked great with my china, but I felt uncomfortable when sitting at the table - my plate seemed to be too far away. Can you dream up something that would add the sort of contrast that a charger would, but without the bulk and distance from the table's edge? Maybe something with cloth napkins?
@LadyMaryBeth2 жыл бұрын
Chargers can be in different sizes. Some are really oversized. Buffet plates are in between dinner and chargers.

I need to understand. I love the little plates in the big ones but how do you serve, eat... I was more confused when I saw the beautiful porcelain desert plate with the roses over the other ones. Do you eat desert before your meal? I know you don't but I do not get the (mettre les petits plats dans les grands) is useful.
@LadyMaryBeth3 жыл бұрын
Dessert before the meal would be dreamy. Sometimes, I sneak a sweet before dinner. The small plates are great for small bites with champagne before dinner. We are entertaining at our home in Germany this week and have served 4-5 courses. In Texas, we tend to serve 3 courses for special dinners. These place settings are meant to inspire different looks using your unique patterns.

Is it possible to bid snipe? With how many seconds left is it recommended to put in your max bid? 5, 10 or maybe lower?
@LadyMaryBeth3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the commercially available software does not support sniping at shopgoodwill.

I set a timer as bidding gets closer and put my best offer in during the last 30-60 seconds.

@@LadyMaryBeth Would there be a benefit to waiting till the very last few seconds if there's a lot of demand for an item? Do other people so that as well? Great videos btw! I watched all of them.

@@robertmos8732 Thanks for the views and great questions. I have been outbid the last 30 seconds, but it’s not that common. I try and not bid at all until the last minute or less. To be the high bidder early on is no advantage.

With all due respect, how does stacking five empty dishes in front of your guests facilitate gracious entertaining? As charming as the mix of patterns and colors are, it seems at odds with the way foods are served and eaten and with what is functionally necessary. If you have properly trained staff, one would never see empty dishes stacked up like this. Never. If you are a hostess alone, this would make everything more difficult and messy for you and for your guests. I just don't get it. I have been entertaining at home for decades and have been entertained in homes modest and palatial. This seems more like something you would see in a store display window intending to sell china.
@LadyMaryBeth3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for taking the time to view and comment. 😉 I hope to inspire creative place settings and ways to rejuvenate vintage patterns. With home entertaining, it’s easier to pre-set dishes and remove after each course. I don’t have a wait staff for seated dinners. Though, I have hired a helping hand a time or two for large parties to keep up with washing of china, crystal and silver.
