I went to the actual firehouse in Chicago that they filmed at. I didn’t know they don’t film there anymore. The firehouse in Chicago is actually real close to the one Chicago PD was filmed. Love this show

Great tour and memories. The flashback to Shay's death killed me. But I hope we can move post Pandemic protocols soon because I miss the behind-the-scenes stuff with the cast/crew interacting with one another and the lack of them (other than the part with Jesse) made me sad.

Pretty cool. They also did this for Emergency back in the 70’s. They built a replica of Station 127 in a sound stage at Universal Studios. Funny thing the sound stage set is actually smaller than the actual station. They would shoot exterior shots at Station 127 (in Carson) a few times a year. They did shoot in the stations bay a few times with the doors open. You can tell how much bigger it really is.

I always found the plot hole of Engine 51's lieutenant not having their own quarters a weird, yet interesting one considering that 51 is the primary apparatus assigned to the firehouse. (Granted 51 was such an afterthought in the first 6 seasons that it was shown to have half a dozen different officers in charge before Herrmann's never before seen predecessor is introduced in Season 7)

They've recently explained this. When Firehouse 51 was originally built, it only had Engine and Truck so those officer quarters were for their respective lieutenants / captains. But then Squad was added to the House and Engine lost its quarters
