Man, I saw that slip on the head of that screw coming. I think we've all done that, I was like "Dude, move your fingers further from that" and then slip it happened. Ouch!!! Great job on the first cut, wanted to see all the slabs you took off of this log.

Good show man. When I bring logs home, I wash them with the hose. A good rince saves me time for sure. I drag logs out of the woods to the trailer to load. They get dirty. Get a winch.

Thanks for the effort you put into this video. Liked your simple chainsaw jig and emphasizing the usefulness of overhang on the first cut ladder/rails. Thumbs up.

The setup of first cut seems to be the most varied aspect of chainsaw milling. Everyone does something just a little differently. I like what you did here.

I like the tip about using the existing pulley from the extension ladder, for your winch cord. And the bungee cord is a great idea too.
@joesinakandid528
@joesinakandid528 2 жыл бұрын
Your ladder shifted because the rubber Bungees stretched from pushing the mill sled. Rather than 2 bungee cords -- why not 2 one to two inch wide ratchet straps from rung, under log, back to the other side of the same rung. If the hooks don't span the rungs a very short chain to go around the rung then bungee hook to the chain links. Solid.

if you put two screws right on your line and set your board on it it might be easier to screw in your guide board with your tremor, or for anyone trying to do something one handed :-) Nice instructional video. Thanks for sharing.

Could you possibly have predrilled holes in your 2x4 so that the screw would have easily passed through? Good info and everything else. TY!

When mounting your 2x4 guide drive two nails on opposite sides of line creating a ledge & set 2x4 on them THEN screw board into log
@dalyjolly5891
@dalyjolly5891 2 жыл бұрын
I’m thinking you need a screw guide. Has a sleeve that fits over the bit & screw, slides back as you drive the screw. Safe for fingers.

If you know for sure that your ladder is squared away you could screw on the first cut ladder supports 2x4. Then lay the ladder on and screw the second 2x4 with the ladder doing the leveling. ? Bubble levels are not exact. Would be a bit cumbersome, but doable. I

Put a couple of nails on your line to support your board before screwing it on no more screwing around trying to keep it level while screwing board on

You might just use superglue for small lacerations and evulsions, leaving a small section open for drainage of wound. Then sanitize area.

On small mills (24 inch and under) 3/8 .050 and I've found any ripping chain brand performs about the same. On my larger mills (36 to 96) '.404 skip semi chisel ground to zero degrees.
