Set Up Power BI Data Gateway to Connect On-Premise Data Sources

During this session, we will be discussing about how we can install Standard Data Gateway to connect with On-Premise Data sources like SQL Server.

We have one account and got power bi pro license. 2.installing data gateway on server.where postgre sql is there 3.Do we need admin access for the account from postgresql.? 4.During config should i choose windows authetication or user account authentication ?

Hi when I try to do schedule refresh installed its asking no gateways is installed in your computer then i enterprise gate way on my computer and add data source like flat file or sql but my question is after shutdown my computer the gateways down right and got issue with schedule refresh to avoid that exactly where to install who will install could you please explain

You need to set up Enterprise Gateway and need to configure refresh. 8 Refreshes per day you can perform with Power BI Pro.

Refresh has to do nothing with Datagateway. You can configure max. 8 Refresh in Power BI Service iteself.

Hi, In Power BI, we use Power BI desktop for developing the reports where you don't require a gateway because your Desktop application and your SQL are on premise but when you publish the reports to Power BI service which is a cloud based one, now you have to configure your on premise data sources to Power BI service that is where we use gateways. Gateway works as a bridge connection between your on premises data sources to your Power BI service. If you have a Azure SQL which is a cloud based one then you don't require a gateway because both Power BI service and your data sources are on cloud. Hope you understand, if you have any doubts on this continue the conversation.
