Outdated guide. You should update it if you're going to charge money for this ability.

I've been using dynamic lighting for a year now and it has really been an absolute blessing in my games. There is more I'd like to see done with it though, like one way sightlines. For example, if there is a elevation (example: Cliff wall, guard tower, 2nd story of stairs, ect.) then the players below the light point can't see past it unless they cross the light point on the other side where they can see everything without having to delete the entire wall or dynamic lighting lines. The only way I've learned to avoid this is to make a separate dynamic light lines to be deleted, since if you group the entire map together or do it all at once, you'll have to delete all your progress up to the last point where you ended in that area.

Has this changed with the new recent design? I can't find it, but I seem to be logged in as GM.

Thanks! This makes the lighting so much more dramatic :)

Okay so now that you have figured it out roll20... can you please overlook the modules and check dynamic lighting, so much is incorrect on CURSE OF STRAHD 5e (windows covered up like walls, gaps in doorways, non-straight lines in easy places) Thank you!

is there a way to save the map and light layer so i have the option to reuse maps across different games/modules and i dont have to make them all over again.

This video seems to be outdated and it would be really cool if you guys would update your tutorials with your content so new GMs can better understand the tools we're paying for.....

can you select your wall outlines from the GM layer, like you used in the legacy lighting, then transfer it to the new Dynamic lighting layer? I cant see an option for this? should I just redraw all my walls on the new Dynamic lighting layer?

Still cant figure out why when dynamic lighting is on, tokens are locked in a room. Really sucks.

How do you erase a wall without crashing the entire lighting layer?

Why does the whole map have to have it? I just want part of it, but once I select dynamic lighting the entire map is in a shroud of darkness

I have issues getting my lines perfectly straight when not aligning walks to the grid... I just want my players to be able to see doors! Lol

Little problem people can still walk through the walls

Go to Page Details on the map settings. You'll see a setting called Movement: Dynamic Lighting Barriers restrict Movement. This stops players from going through walls. But, that means the DM has to move them through every barrier.

Best solution: Don't have players that try and cheat. Be highly selective of your gaming group. Don't be afraid to kick players that are scumbags. Cull the herd until you find lifetime friends you can trust.

@@toddyarbrough8711 Late response but I did this, it was very useful, just gave doors there our barriers then deleted them when opened, worked like a charm. Sadly the game fell through despite my efforts but setting up was just as well. Fun time. Edit: TY, by the way.

@@williamlazenby314 Sounds like a good idea. If they don't work for the group no point in making everyone suffer. Sadly I don't have a pool to pull from but maybe some day in the future I can actually get a game to last.

@@culturalliberator9425 The only original person in my current D&D group has been playing with me for over 19 years. There have been many player switchouts over the years. My current group is more like a family. I didn't have a pool to choose from, just close to 20 years of slowly gathering the best of the best and weeding out problem people. Be patient and be particular. Our longest game has lasted for almost 3 years. Dm me if you wanna talk more. We sometimes play online you could drop in if you want to.
