@craighicksartwork9 жыл бұрын
+Rus Pitman Actually, it's very underrepoted that he did offer script writing duties to Kasdan. But he turned it down. ROTS was also co scripted by another writer, Jonathan something. The main problem was putting Ben Burtt I'm charge of editing. He needed an extremely tight and confident editor because I say it time and time again - TPM and AOTC could be Mike's better with a great edit. As is evident in the many edits available online. But yes, a co-director would have worked wonders.
@SargentCpt9 жыл бұрын
+Craig Hicks very true. Being surrounded by "yes men" and poor editing made the prequels weak. Which is why there are so many good youtube edits for the prequels. Honestly the whole prequel trilogy could have been 2 movies. Even in the originals the way the movie was put together and the way scenes were removed made it a much better movie. There are plenty of awful moments in the originals that were scrapped (look at the original Lea and Han scene in cloud city in Ep. 5 for example)

+Dan Tee its my opinion that if he'd had meaningful creative collaboration on the PT that they would've ended up good movies. I can only assume that he wanted too much control over the outcome, which is fair enough. They were his movies and he was in the position to do whatever he wanted. I don't dislike the films just the execution, but I can appreciate what he was going for. Regardless I've moved on from being annoyed at the prequels and I hope he works on something new soon. It will be interesting to see what films if any he makes now that Star Wars is done and dusted for him.

Funny how many FANS continue to bash George Lucas but are still in love with the universe and characters he created. George Lucas is a legendary filmmaker with a legendary imagination and he seems like a decent human being. When he sold LucasFilms to Disney he donated all his profits to charity. He created the greatest movie universe in history. Everyone knows Star Wars and most people love it. That's why the prequels are judged so harshly. Just appreciate what he has done for film.

+Reuben Natal First off I agree with almost everything you said. Lucas created a Master Piece and should be appreciated and fans should be grateful for it. I also agree all news and indicators are that Lucas is a really good guy that does really great things to help people. I do believe in my humble opinion though that Lucas seemed a bit more arrogant in the late 90's and early 2000's and I think that is part of the reason for some of the backlash. I think here in the last few years Lucas has been so humble, gracious, and even poked fun at himself in regards to the franchise moving forward with out him. Fact is with both his creations and charity efforts George Lucas has made the world a much better place, but his arrogance and stubborn ways in the prequels is reason for critique, but not the level of hate that is out there.

@@DARTHMOBIUS I am tired of everyone blaming everything on SJW or Political Correctness. That shit has been around for thousands of years. People nowadays don't know their head from their ass and use those things as scapegoats for their problems. SJW's are unintentional assholes. They always have been, cut from the same cloth as grammar nazi's and technicality gurus. Are they annoying? Yes. Are they an actual problem? No. Just ignore them like you would ignore any other asshole. Political Correctness is an over-ambition of common decency, but please do not confuse the two. You need to utilize empathy in your daily lives. Try to realize that people different from you have different opinions and views on things. Put yourself in their shoes and understand why they think the way they do. Get along with people if they aren't being an abrupt asshole. A lot of the issues associated with political correctness are because those people that are different from you feel an incredible amount of negativity associated with them, without any reason. They are just trying to educate people that a different viewpoint exists, and that is perfectly fine. If you don't want to listen, then that is your choice, just don't be a dick like an SJW. I feel like people who complain about SJWs and SJWs are the same type of people, just finding something to bitch about. Shut the fuck up, get on with your life, and you will realize that SJWs and PC don't really affect much. Now if you want to know what's really the problem, it is the people who want power and money. Those are the people slinging the issue onto their scapegoats. These are companies who care way too much about money, these are people who care way too much about their power. Those are ultimately the people responsible for the change you don't want. Thanks for listening to my youtube comment rant, sorry if these things feel unfairly directed towards you, maybe you'll understand what it feels like to be the subject of undue negativity.

The problem with people who hate the prequels so much is they just don't realise that Lucas didn't make them for fans of the originals or fanboys in general. He was making them with the same attitude he made the original with before it had any fans whatsoever. He wanted to tell a story he found interesting, that he believed in and displayed values he believed in. Then people whose whole world seems to revolve around Star Wars couldn't understand that Lucas cares about other things sometimes, couldn't understand the philosophy behind the films and how they were made and as a result decided to make him Public Enemy No. 1. The whole two suns tatooine symbolism to me was; you cannot avoid destiny. Anakin was from tatooine and Luke was raised in tatooine. In episode 3, Owen Lars holds Luke as a baby and does the same pose we later on see in episode 4 where Luke raises his foot into the rock staring off into the sunset. Why? Because no matter how hard Luke tried to avoid the obvious he was always falling back into the road that lead him to be who he is, just like his father. Yoda (who's never wrong btw) said if you leave your training right now you will encounter pain and suffering. Also, when he went into the cave he saw darth vader and when he defeated him, the guy behind the mask was Luke. Lastly, in episode 1, Anakin's mom tells Anakin right before leaving with Qui Gon, "you cannot avoid your destiny just like you cannot stop the suns from setting."(somewhere between those lines.) So in my perspective; sunset means, you cannot avoid your fate.

My brother went to Berkeley and majored in film studies. He met an awesome connection at Lucas Arts studios and he gave us a tour. We toured the whole facility and right as he was leading us out, Lucas himself walked by (with two suits on both sides of him). I actually bumped into him and said sorry, and he said “oh I’m sorry too!” Even though I actually never “met” him I’ll never forget that. Even the guy giving us the tour was surprised because apparently he hardly ever visited that area

It's cool to see Lucas loves his family so much. I kind a feel like Seth struggles a lot in his personal life, especially since he says he feels like he's always working. I think he asked Lucas how he separated work and leisure time because Seth internally is trying to understand how he can do the same.

9:23 “Life begins at 40, cuz you’re either dead or you’re so burned out that you can’t think about what you’ve been doing and you sort of wander into a whole other vocation.” I’m 36 and my life has already fallen apart once, hence the burnout, and I wandered into a different vocation (from education to 2D animation) and made me realize how important family is……it’s like he knows. Life is weird.

2:52 what's interesting is that the second piece of music that Seth hums to George Lucas isn't actually in The Empire Strikes Back and was cut out before it was before the soundtrack was put into the film made by John Williams so it's in the soundtrack of The Empire Strikes Back but it was not put into the Final Cut of the movie but you can still listen to it on The Empire Strikes Back soundtrack
