WWE's booking of Dean Ambrose during this time and on the night should've been mentioned as well. One of the reasons that Rollins hadn't been able to cash in is that Ambrose told him that whenever he would attempt to cash in, Ambrose would be there to stop him. Earlier in the night Ambrose was involved in the IC title ladder match and during the match Ambrose was power bombed from inside the ring to the outside and through a ladder. Presumably this injured Ambrose, which meant that he would be unable to stop Rollins during his cash in during the main event.

Ambrose was clearly the most over face of the company and was clearly more popular than Roman was, who was still being shoved down our throat as the incredibly unpopular babyface whom the fans didn’t give a damn about because of how poorly booked he was during that time. As usual, typical WWE being the stubborn pricks that they were made it clear that they were going with their precious golden boy Roman. Triple H winning was just stupid.

We were in the crowd next to the ramp for this. This atmosphere in the crowd towards Reigns was rough to say the least. This was *definitely* the right call on the night.

I gotta say, that was pretty clever for Seth Rollins to cash in his briefcase in the middle of the Lesnar/Reigns match. I always thought WWE did that because they probably finally realized that Roman Reigns wasn’t getting over as a face.

I still can't get over how perfect the dynamic of The Shield was. All the people just had this hard to match synergy. It's not super common to have a faction where all the pieces seem vital to the formula.

Looking back, I think the way they tried to build Reigns up damaged WWE's relationship with their fans a lot. Over and over, WWE showed how stupid they think the fans are by ham-fistedly trying to push Roman to the moon despite the absolutely nuclear heat he had. I think it was then even the non-smarky fans turned on WWE's booking. It was just so obvious what they were saying: "We're going to give you *this*, and you're going to like it."

I thought about Rollins cashing in that night because I knew he still had the briefcase but not gonna lie by the time the main event happened I forgot ALL ABOUT IT. Seth already having a match that night and the intensity of the main event probably helped. Such a good finish though.

I’m glad they did what they did back then. Had they not caved...it’s possible that The Tribal Chief may not exist as one of the most over stars in the business today. Reigns could be stuck sufferin’ some succotash, & nobody likes that.

bro, awesome story but Rollins came up with the idea: He said: “I had the idea to do the cash-in a couple of months before WrestleMania. So probably January [2015], December [2014]. I’m riding in the car with Cesaro, Claudio Castagnoli, and we’re booking the territory as we do, and I’ve got these ideas and I’m running them by him. He’s got his ideas, and we’re just trying to come up with some stuff, and it seemed like a good idea, but I had to find the right time to put the bug in somebody’s ear. I thought it was a great opportunity to create a moment unlike any we’ve ever seen. I thought it was a great way to build myself, but also to build Roman [Reigns] and give him somebody to chase. If I'm hearing the story correctly, the fans hijacked the show and WWE was in a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" predicament here. If they listened to the fans and had Brock retain, the talent would be pissed. If they stick with their guns and back talent and the Anoi'a family and have Reigns win, the fans would revolt. Seth cashing was iconic, no doubt, but I think we as fans "demand" too much sometimes. We want logical, long-term storytelling but even here at a really good 'Mania there was almost (no pun intended) no way out.

Ehhh, I'm sorry but while possibly interesting I don't see how anyone would've really benefitted from Reigns winning that night. Reigns would've ended the night in a sea of boos which would've looked terrible, we would've been robbed of one of the best cash ins ever which in turn hurts Rollins since that was a career moment for him, and of course Reigns still doesn't actually get over until years later they finally drop the boring 1 man shield gimmick and let him do the great stuff he's doing now.

Last Minute Change Lol Triple H was behind Rollins since NXT which is why Rollins became the First NXT World Champion and Reigns didn't even get the Belt, Yes on the Main Roster Vince promoted Reigns better than Triple H did in NXT but Rollins was still the Focus, I mean Hell The Shield was a Rocket Ship meant for Rollins Reigns was just a last minute Replacement Muscle for the Group, Did Vince see the Next Batista Yes, Did he Ignorantly try to make him the Next John Cena ie Superhero Character that promoted to Children and Not the Face of the WWE Yes, Rollins was always the Guy he was modeled after Triple H and was even set to beat Triple H at WrestleMania 32 when the Authority Storyline fell through, But Fans wanted a ScapeGoat so they blamed the Musclehead. Rollins was always supposed to go over at WrestleMania 31 they just wanted Reigns to get some Shine by winning the Royal Rumble. The Truth will come out eventually the Writers will talk about how Rollins was Always meant to be The Face of the WWE after Cena and Reigns was just supposed to play second fiddle like The Rock did to Austin in the 90's.
